It seems like only yesterday that we hit a 1,000 members. Now, can you believe we're over 2,400 strong?

When we first started theMET, our goal was to make this site, in and over itself, an experience. Or more specifically, we wanted it to be a place where people from all over the world could gather and share in today's best modern day experiences.

Tell us about yourself. Who you are, why you're here and what you hope to get out of this site. I'm going to link this to the main page, under the box Welcome, so that when anyone comes in they can stop by here first and find more about our great community.

I'm Alice, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief. I was born in Los Angeles and raised in and around it. You'll see me blogging here almost every day on things that I'm most passionate about. I hope to meet new people who share my interest in not only finding what's cool and cutting-edge but what's relevant to our lives. If you ever need anything, just holler.

Your turn!

I found this place by accident in early April and immediately felt at home here. The content and the people here form a unique community. I don't live in a big metropolis but I travel a lot (business and pleasure) and this site always gives me great ideas for things to do. I love art and architecture but more than that I love really good design. The Met fulfills a need I didn't even really knew I had. I'm very happy to be here and be a part of this community. I check this site more frequently than almost any other. When I'm traveling or surfing the web and I see something cool I immediately think "that would make a great blog post on the Met".

About me: I'm 49, married, with two kids. I was born in Texas, lived for 13 years in Florida, and now live in Tennessee. I work at home but travel to DC 2 or 3 times a month. I'm very adventurous and love backpacking, whitewater rafting, rock climbing and am always ready for anything crazy!

hola, me llamo Nguyen. I was born in Vietnam and immigrated to SoCal when i wee lass, at the tender age of 4. growing up behind the Orange Curtain, i've pretty much lived a "sheltered" life. but thanks to the miracle of the interwebs, 4weeks of annual paid vacation and business travel, i've been very fortunate to have had the chance to travel, meet interesting people and visit amazing places all over this big blue rock we live on. during the day, i work with some talented people at InterTrend Communications. we're a small multi-cultural advertising agency in the LBC. MyModernMet is where I go for inspiration and connect w/others that are "like-minded."

I stumbled upon this site, believe it or not, big high five to Stumble. I took a glance around the site and cocked an eyebrow (most likely listening to some M.I.A and chair dancing) thinking "hmmm.. this place looks pretty cool... I can voice my opinions and get those of other fun people..." <3 at first site :)

i'm rachel, 31, single, no kids, full time nanny, born in Michigan (missing it like mad) and now living in Boston, MA. I hate hot weather, closed-minded people, death metal, raw tomatoes, and opression of any sort. Now that I've got the negative out of the way, lets see- I enjoy photography, collage, making jewelry, meeting new people, writing to pen pals (letter writing is a dying art, people, seriously...) collecting WWII memorabilia, trying daring new things with my hair, eating rope licorice and anything that glitters. I don't take myself too seriously, and think that any time is a good time for fun. Music is my driving force, it's like oxygeon to me, and all those other cliches that music is. I hope to meet some cool, intelligent people who share my tastes, or who don't, and teach me something!

Hello, I'm Sam, husband to Alice. I also find the MET inspiring, but for different reasons than most. I've been able to see the MET evolve over the year plus that it's been up and running and I get to see all the hard work of Alice and Eugene come to fruition. I get to see how people start to feel connected to people across the world that they may otherwise have never gotten to know. It's a great community and still a relatively new community with lots of room to grow.
Thanks to everyone that contributes and also thanks to those who come here for inspiration.

I found this place via stumbleupon multiple times. I only just decided to join. I thought it had a unique design and cool concept. The art and music posts are great for inspiration. I personally practice drawing from the photography posted.

I'm 16 from Michigan. I draw and like blogging. I'm in private school and it sucks. I'm athletic, I play field hockey and run track. I have eclectic music tastes and some say sense of fashion. I think thats all there really is to say about me...

Hello everyone! I'm Eugene and I'm a senior editor here at theMET. It really is my pleasure and privilege to be amongst all of you in this tight-knit community.

Like Alice, you'll see me posting stuff almost every day on things that I'm most passionate about. My posts are usually centered around modern art+design, architecture, technology, urban street culture, and nightlife.

The most fulfilling thing about theMET is getting to know all of you. I look forward to the journey ahead and hope that we can continue to enrich each others lives.

Hello, I'm Stephanie, 43, single with a child Marine (15) I don't remeber if I first met the Met on Stumbleupon or in a mail from a society in Bervely Hills.Never mind, I remember enjoying straight away.I have a degree in Hotel and catering managment but as we say in France, I am in the slack of the wave.So I clean rooms or whatever I'm asked in the hotel ( this morning it was the restaurant windows!)I was born in France nearby I live but spent a little time in Uk, a long time in Brussels and a little time in the Carrabian Islands.5We started a 4x4 guide tour society there but too hot and too expensive for me.Came back 13 years ago and tried to settle again.
So the Met is as a secret garden with differents subjects and blogs that I enjoy reading that takes me out of my everyday life.I consider you all as bees around blossoming flowers.

I was born in Mumbai (India) and live and work there. But my work allows me the pleasure of seeing a lot of places, something which I am thankful for because I just love travelling and meeting people, understanding and being a part of their culture and values.
I found this site while searching through google for some other information, and I sure am glad I did. I get my daily dose of global attitudes and sensibilities from here. To communicate across nations and over a wide variety of intelligent and fun topics as well as the odd thought-provoking discussion is what keeps me coming back for more...

Kudos to the entire team for making this happen, and not to mention, all the contributors.

hello :) Found this place about few months ago.
I live in estonia and graduated from the University of ART in estonia 2005 and there I have always lived...
I work in graphic designer and also design is my passion. if you learn the style you wish like designer do every day, then sometimes you want designs of your life outside of work! You now... every little things must be almost perfect. Do not know whether this is good or bad but however, I do not try to shape and design the people around!... I think it would be wrong :)
Thanks to everyone and very best wishes!

sorry for bad english language!
