On Friday Fox News took out a full page ad in the Washington Post asserting that the other major news networks failed to cover the 9/12 protests. “How did ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN miss this story,” Fox asked, adding “we cover all the news.”

CNN’s Rich Sanchez launched into a nearly seven minute attack on Fox’s integrity and responsibility as a news network in response. Pulling in example after example of CNN’s coverage of the events, Sanchez hammered away at Fox relentlessly, citing even Fox’s own Bill O’Reilly’s complaints about CNN’s supposedly non-existent coverage.

The next day CNN fired back with an ad of their own. Claiming Fox is “distorting not reporting,” CNN attacked its right-wing-rival with televised ads focused upon the misleading ad in the Washington Post.

Late on Saturday a video appeared on YouTube with a “behind the scenes” view of Fox News producer Heidi Noonan actually directing and rallying a 9/12 protest crowd for a live shot.

My question to you: Do you think Fox News lies?

Every news organization has a bias. That is a simple fact of life. At most of them the bias ebbs and flows and sometimes it goes too far one way or the other. Always remember though - the aim of any business is to make money. Say it again - THE AIM OF ANY BUSINESS IS TO MAKE MONEY! Their aim is not to give you "fair and balanced" news. It is to increase viewership and thereby advertising revenue. CNN has the same goal. If inciting a "war" with CNN by purposefully distorting events gets them noticed and increases viewership then they've "won". If the argument gets more people watching the news then they've both won. In reality they are in the business of entertainment -- and this "war" is just more entertainment for the masses.

Anyone who wants a "true" picture of the news these days would be crazy to watch only one network. It is flat-out impossible to get anything close to a complete unbiased view without scanning numerous sources. That is why I love Google News. It is gathered by an unbiased computer program and you can quickly scan multiple viewpoints on the same story.

I personally like BBC and NPR.
Those news agencies don't seem to have as much bias.

They don't have to lie if they never report things at all

Yes. Plain and simple.

FOX news report opinions as facts. So too do their sister station in Britain, Sky News. They are not News channels they are mouthpieces for various lobby groups connected to the filthy Murdoch empire.
As a human being to be told that they are news stations insults an industry that has many upstanding people working in it. It also insults our intelligence. These days i watch FOX news for its comedic value. Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly are hilarious to watch, because what they come out with is so far fetched and ridiculous that you can do nothing but laugh.
If i were scripting a new 3 stooges show it would be with those 3 in mind as my stooges. I can just see BillO slapping the other 2 morons as they make another complete mess of something or other.

The question should be why don't the other news channels cover a lot of the topics that Fox does?
