Droid vs iPhone - Which one will come out on top?

Mashable:
"The Motorola Droid is certainly one of the most discussed new non-Apple smartphones to come out in some time. It launches November 6th on Verizon, but you can already pre-order it from Best Buy.

Is it worth switching to if you already carry an iPhone or another device? To provide some guidance, BillShrink has produced a detailed chart looking at Droid, iPhone, Palm Pre, and MyTouch 3G."

How do you think the Droid will sell? Will people ditch their iPhone for the Droid?
Do you think that the Droid will mark the comeback of Motorola?

I'm really thinking about getting the Droid. I am currently paying for 5 phones on Verizon so switching to AT&T to get an iPhone is not an option no matter how much I want it. With the rebate and my "new every two" credit I could get the Droid for only $99. Not that I actually need a new phone though but it would be fun to play with. And with Google behind the OS it might just have a decent shot at being a real iPhone competitor, something that none of these companies could pull off without them.

Here's a video of the Droid in action: here (via engadget)

Impressive. I'm not phone-crazy but this is nice.
Voice-activated gps (pizza) search rules. Latitude is pretty crazy--I don't know when anyone will need to find each other on a map but it will be interesting to broadly apply that RFID technology to children & pets. Oh wait they already do! At least it won't have to be injected into children; they can just put it in their phones if that technology becomes more common w other devices.
My current contract is almost up--thanks for the info.

Super uber detailed review (thx hakeem 4 pointer):

http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/30/motorola-droid-review/

I'm getting our office to move to it (~5 lines). From what i understand thats the minimum you need to start a business account which gives you 25% off accessories, no activation fee, access to business plans (like the small biz share mins plan) and the droid is $200 straight up, no rebate mailing required.

With the relative openness of the platform + the eleventy hundred billion handsets coming out high on android + all the ppl hacking into all parts of it = victory... eventually.

Every major handset manufacturer seems to have at least a couple of android handsets out or coming out.

No android handset can yet touch the iphone but its just a matter of time. The fact that I could d/l the developer kit and start coding apps makes me salivate...

The engadget vid of the Google Nav app is amazing (here). Google totally gets the whole online integration thing.

Woah, that vid is cool. Can't wait to get my droid!

Thanks for finding that review and posting the link here! Some really good insights.

Here's a great line from the comments on that page: "Yo Moto, I'm really happy for you, ima let you release, but the HTC [TouchPro2] had the best keyboard of all time!" -Kanye

Well if Kanye likes it, it has to be awesome!! lol

Having now read more info I have decided that I can't live without this phone! Here are the features that sold me:

1. full, native Exchange support (I can finally get rid of my corporate Blackberry)
2. multimedia dock that lets you drag and drop with your computer (also lets you use the phone as a digital picture frame)
3. Google's nav app
4. voice recognition

The only downside is that part of the price goes to George Lucas as royalty to use the name "Droid"! There's nothing star wars about the phone...

I really like the design of it.. I really don't like touch screens so I like that the Droid has a keyboard. I'm on AT&T though, and am not willing to pay $600 for the phone without a contract. Oh well..
