<3 Tim Burton!
I agree, this is a really good movie. As a Tim Burton fan, I think that this is one of his greatest masterpiece (and of cos, edward scissorhands) =)
There is one movie that I still remember many scenes of it (I watched it 10 years ago)
Ulysses' Gaze by THEODOROS ANGELOPOULOS.

Agree to most already mentioned. Might as well add this HK musical drama film called Perhaps Love (or in Chinese name, Ru guo · Ai).
The art direction and the cinematography are really neat :)

...i am still haunted by Children Of Men...i remember the seedy red light district motel i stayed in on one sleepless night this was playing on HBO...
My favorite is still Blade Runner

Definitely one of my all time favs. The set design and the music in that movie were top notch. I actually have a copy of the glass that Deckard drank from in the movie! You can see it (and buy one) here.
how could i have forgotten this one...the director's cut DVD is one of my treasures...absolutely beautiful for a film made before CGI...
I know...the good old days of matte paintings, models, and lots of smoke & fog machines. The story holds up even better today.
Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain

Old Boy and Ghost in the Shell, and for my old school picks Citizen Kane and Birds

1. Raging BUll

2. Lust, Caution

3. Age of Innocence
