how could i forget rosemary's baby
i think these villains lose their scary-ness when their faces are shown too much. that's the beauty of michael myers & jason--you don't really get to see their eyes or faces. the first freddy kreuger had taht quality; after that not so much
For those in L.A. the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is screening the Carpenter classic, Halloween, projected on an enormous wall tomorrow night. Very fun. BYO picnic/everything. i'm going with a few friends if anyone wants

Although The Shining is absolutely, hands down a classic, I have to say my favorites are the old school horrors a la Creature of the Black Lagoon. HOWEVER, Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects are watchable over and over and over again all year long.
I didn't think Paranormal Activity was as scary as the media was pumping it up to be. I did think The Strangers was pretty scary though... reminded me of Vacancy, but scarier. Also Chainsaw will always be high on my list.
