Today we got new guidelines from the Justice Department directing agents not to intervene when no state laws have been broken. Do you think this in an improvement in our nations drug policy?
Absolutely. The government doesn't need to spend money on prosecuting potheads. We can use that money for so many things, including lowering our humongous deficit.
I would add. If they were really smart, they would find a way to tax it.
I saw something about this on the BBC- I thought it seemed like a definite improvement, but a lot of people seemed to think it wasn't much of a change at all. And I absolutely agree with Johnny Blue- legalizing marijuana and throwing a tax on it, in my opinion would be a huge boost to US economy. Plus, right now, in some places pot is a Schedule I drug- meaning you're prosecuted as badly as you would be for heroin.
