Florida church plans to burn Quran on 9/11 anniversary - Outrageous or extreme?

Huffington Post: "Members of a church in Gainesville, Florida are planning to commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 by burning Korans. The "International Burn A Quran Day," is just the latest in anti-Islamic protests that the Dove World Outreach Center holds each year on 9/11."

They've even set up a Facebook page, just for this issue. When I heard of this, I was a little saddened by their actions. So much hate, when there should be love. I know this is a touchy sensitive issue, but I would like to hear your thoughts. What do you think?

This is really about people who are trying to call attention and make a name for themselves. In the era of Fox News and Sarah Palin people have had to really up the anty when it comes to being a nut job. The best thing to do would be to ignore these people or laugh at them at best. To be angry or offended lends them too much credability.

Also, someone needs to remind them that Christians have murdered their fair share of innocent people over the years.
Well said Kevin. Couldn't agree with you more.
'Where they burn books, they will ultimately also burn people.' Heinrich Heine
This is pretty extreme I think. Yes there are difference but how would they feel if the people in afghanistan decided to burn a copy of the bible?

It seems wrong to me.
wow..... ok, even though i don't believe in anything this is a WAY over the top. people need to step back and take a look at the situation. Islam is a religion and terrorist is not. it wasn't muslims who attacked the us, it was TERRORISTS!!!!!! every person has the right to believe in whatever they want and that is why i'm atheist, which by the way is not the same as satinism it just means that i dont believe in anything
They should be ashamed to call themselves Christians. Do they really think that's what Jesus would do?
No Jesus helped the poor and the meek. He was only harsh with the religious leaders of his day who thought they were something because of their religion. He would flip the tables on these guys. Pun intended.
Oh the intolerant extremists... all they are doing is literally adding fuel to the fire and making people hate us as a country even more.
These people are CRAZY!!! I think it's overboard!!!!
