went on one of those weekend getaway cruises from San Pedro to Ensenada years ago when in college. if you're into buffeteria-style food, booze'n and the macarena, go for it. ;) Probably wouldn't go again.
I have been three times. My husband and I cruised the Hawaiian islands in 1988 and 2007 on the Pride of America. It is nice to be able to see some of each island without having to change living quarters. You sail at night and have all day to explore. We floated a canal and visited coffee, chocolate and vanilla farms. The sit-down meals are nice. We upgraded our room to have a balcony and a little more room inside. There is even a little TV in the room.
We went on a Norwegian Cruise in the Carribean in between those two. I didn't like it as well because we spent too much time at sea. But it was nice otherwise.
Star Cruise was terrible. Moronic service staff and puny, stale-looking food. It's main purpose is a casino boat for money crazy people. Dun take it for a holiday.
