Have you ever seen an athlete play dirtier than this?!

New Mexico's Elizabeth Lambert is all over the news for her multiple dirty plays against BYU.

My question to you: Have you ever seen an athlete play dirtier than this?! Should she be punished?

wow... and yet she never got kicked out of the game..... ridiculous. It reminds me of when I was in a basketball competition and some girl clotheslined, and later punched me in the stomach.

She went way over the line alot. And I believe she was punished, finally.

"Amid a hoard of attention from the blogosphere today, New Mexico announced that Lambert has been suspended indefinitely from all team practices, competition and conditioning activities.

"I am deeply and wholeheartedly regretful for my actions," Lambert said in a statement posted on the school's web site. "My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept any punishment felt necessary from the coaching staff and UNM administration. This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am. I am sorry to my coaches and teammates for any and all damages I have brought upon them. I am especially sorry to BYU and the BYU women's soccer players that were personally affected by my actions. I have the utmost respect for the BYU women's soccer program and its players."" -USA Today

I read this earlier and it made me laugh:

"This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am. " ... except you were PLAYING SOCCER at the time... sooo...

The worst part is that this is just Soccer... it's a dirty sport, and this type of behavior is absolutely tolerated if not encouraged... the only reason why she was punished was because it was filmed and Americans were shocked so they had to do something. Really, though, it's not new.

I agree, her excuse and apology is totally bogus. She only apologized because she was pressured to.
