Just curious, how many hours a day do you get paid for?
How many hours a day do you actually do work?
Office Space: Peter "In any given week I'd say I do 15 minutes of ACTUAL work."
hmmm sounds about right.
when i was a full-time employee, i'd rack-up about 9-12hrs/day. now as a freelancer, about 6-billable hours to a job and 4 more hours of hustling for the next gig. working in advertising, i think i'm always "working". offline or online, when we're observing/talking to people, businesses, media, etc. all of it plays a role in the work that we create for our clients. BTW, anyone got a job number i can bill the time it took to post this comment?
We do standard 40 hour weeks, although recently we have rolling furloughs, 1 day a week per employee every pay period. I'd wager many days I'm lucky to do 4 hours of work though. Even after 3 rounds of layoffs, keeping busy is tough. And trust me, you do not want to be th one who doesn't at least look busy for those 8 hours!
Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be busy and productive. There's only so much archiving of files & random busy work you can do in a day though. I've tried to get myself into new projects that have gone neglected in times we were swamped. At least then I'm (hopefully) seen as a valued employee rather than a lump in a chair.
I work Friday and Saturday at a local movie theater. I go to college Mon - Thurs. So how many hours a week do I work. About all of them but Sunday, and even parts of sunday. Sigh. College is a beast. Although I do get about 10 hours a week of free time.
