32-year-old Jon Gosselin held a public discussion with Rabbi Shumley Boteach at the West Side Jewish Center Sunday. Gosselin told the audience of 50 guests and 75 reporters, "I am sorry for doing the things that I did."
He spoke openly about his indiscretions since splitting with wife Kate, which include three reported flings, saying, "I want to apologize to Kate in private. I'll apologize to her for openly having relationships in the public eye."
"That was a huge mistake, because if she would've done that to me, I would have been extremely pissed off. Not because our relationship is over, it's almost like a stab in the back. And now that I think about it, it was a very wrong thing to do. I definitely regret it."
Near the end of the event, Rabbi Shumley had some advice for Gosselin. "My advice is, both spouses should not date because the kids are going through a hard time,” he said.
And Gosselin assured the crowd that he was taking the Rabbi's words to heart.
"Hailey and I decided to calm things down until the divorce, just until the divorce," he said. "I don't want to ruin things with Hailey like I did with Kate. We just need to slow things down. I don't want another failure in my relationships. I don't want to make the same mistakes I made with Kate, with Hailey. I would just be repeating the pattern over again."
My question to you: Should Kate accept Jon's apology?
Kate should accept it and they should both try to stay out of the public eye until things blow over. They need to grow up and think about how this is going to affect their kids.
