Robert Park told relatives before Christmas that he was trying to sneak into the isolated communist state to bring a message of "Christ's love and forgiveness" to North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.
In a written statement issued Tuesday on the family's behalf, his brother, Paul Park, said Park's well-being "has been a source of ongoing concern and anxiety" since they received reports he had entered North Korea. Park's parents told said that their son was willing to risk his life to deliver his message to Kim.
A South Korean Web site last week posted a copy of the letter it said Park was trying to deliver to Kim, which urged the North Korean leader in the name of Jesus Christ to free political prisoners and "open your borders so that we may bring food, provisions, medicine, necessities, and assistance to those who are struggling to survive."
My question to you: Do you admire Paul Park's courage or do you think he is completely foolish? What do you think will happen to him?
After what it took to get Lisa Lings sister, and the other reporter out of there , I don't think I would have taken the chance, knowing how they operate. There dictatorship. Traitor and jail time, thats about it!!!They don't care.
His parents must be really scared that something bad might happen to him.
I would be. I'd also be angry. Yeah scared and angry.
I guess they'll have to wait and see if the government reacts to it. Pretty soon the whole world knows about this and it would be foolish for the N. Koreans to hurt him badly.

So I'm sure both mr. Park and the North Koreans will see eye to eye in this. 'Cause those ideals are pretty much the same in both Christianity and in Communism. :P
Um... being in such a rank of power means that this dictator is probably well educated. He knows about christianity. He doesn't need anyone to tell him about it.
This is one of those things that really bothers me. I understand you don't want people to go to hell but people trying to spread the "word of Christ" need to understand that so many people have access to bibles or education about Jesus and christianity that it's a moot point. It's more about self satisfaction these days.
I apologize if I offend anyone, but that's how I've always felt. Religion is a personal thing, so keep it that way.
the thing with North Korea is it's completely cut off right? I don't think Kim Jong II wants his people influenced by western religion so Robert Park might quite have a death wish in just barging into the country like that. Forgive me if I'm being ignorant though : )
