Most polite robber in the world?

Have you ever seen a robber as polite as this? Do you empathize with him or find him just as guilty as everyone else?

I have had a lot of contact with many, many criminals over the years, & they have committed just about every crime you can imagine, & some you couldn't. needless to say, they have all had their reasons for doing their crimes. I used to be a lockem all up kinda person, but I have learned that things aren't always so clear cut. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there are prisons, & there are many people who deserve to be there, but by no means do they all deserve it. I don't know if I empathize as much as I just understand a little more/better. No one is as guilty as everyone else.

This just breaks my heart. Sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do to survive. And, Ken makes a very good point here. We don't know the reasons why people do the things they do, but with this man we do.

very impressed by how the man behind the counter handled that, gave the guy a few opportunities to change his mind and back out of the situation

He did do an excellent job in remaining calm and trying to rationalize with the robber. Thanks for mentioning that :)

first of all there are people that have to do this kind of thing to survive. but how do you know if they are telling the truth?

Yeah, I believe I heard the robber gave the same story a few years ago for another hold-up. I remain skeptical, although at least there wasn't any violence related to the crime.

Here's one follow-up after his arrest. Sounds like a career criminal who just happens to have a pleasant demeanor.
