Pat Robertson: Haiti is paying for 'pact with Satan'

American televangelist Pat Robertson has blamed the devastating earthquake in Haiti on a pact between the impoverished nation's founders and the devil. Speaking on his television program The 700 Club, Mr Robertson said the pact happened "a long time ago in Haiti".

"They were under the heel of the French, you know Napoleon III and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil,"They said 'We will serve you if you will get us free from the prince.' True story. And so the devil said, 'OK it's a deal'. And they kicked the French out."

Mr Robertson said after the pact, the Haitians "revolted and got something - themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after another," he said.

My question to you: What is your reaction to Pat Robertson's comments?

You're right...he has a long history of ridiculous comments.
Who can really say.....All I can be sure of, I'm awfully saddened by their plight.
JP
In this day and age we are still blaming things on the devil, how sad.
very sad, indeed.
I think Pat Robertson has been smoking a little too much of the Jesus weed. It is sad that some people still send money to these wackos when it could do so much more good in a poor nation like Haiti.
haha....jesus weed.
Do they grow that in Humbolt?
I can't bear it when people credit their homemade version of God with righteous wrathful vengeance, just because a disaster has killed a large number of people. I hope that Pat Robertson is revelling in his television exposure, because, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, he is cementing his reputation as a poisonous, inhumane, ignorant moron.
I totally agree.
I wonder what the fvck the girl is thinking?

She kind of like does little nods and sounds resembling an understanding of what he is saying but
inside (I would hope) she is like "Man I shouldn't of drank so much last night because this guy is really
increasing my hangover".
haha...i was wondering what she was thinking too. I can't imagine she really agreed with what he was saying...
It's all the Christians fault.

Although I think if someone said that, there would be an uproar. . .
