Should U.S. soldiers in Iraq face discipline if they get pregnant?

A new order from the general in charge of U.S. troops in northern Iraq makes getting pregnant or impregnating a fellow soldier an offense punishable by court-martial. The directive, part of a larger order restricting the behavior of the 22,000 soldiers under Maj. Gen. Anthony Cucolo's command, is meant to prevent losing soldiers at a time when troop strength is stretched thin.

"I need every soldier I've got, especially since we are facing a drawdown of forces during our mission," Cucolo wrote. "Anyone who leaves this fight earlier than the expected 12-month deployment creates a burden on their teammates. Anyone who leaves this fight early because they made a personal choice that changed their medical status -- or contributes to doing that to another -- is not in keeping with a key element of our ethos."

Of the 22,000 people under Cucolo's command, 1,682 are women. Pregnancy that arises from sexual assault would not be punished, Cucolo said.

My question to you: Should U.S. soldiers in Iraq face discipline if they get pregnant?

They should just do like the Palin family and practice abstinence. That always works!
"Anyone who leaves..." Who says anyone is leaving? Woops...did i say loophole?

However...to get pregnant while in a war zone, is not a smart thing to do.
Must suck even more when you're a non- married pregnant catholic army girl. Then you have both the general And the pope to worry about.
lol
Honestly... birth control anyone?
in my opinion women should not go to war at all. i do not want to discriminate because i know there are some women they take their job serious and things like this would not happen to them.
some of them want to make that fast money by going to war, its like 30 man vs 1 woman (some women can really feel special there...lol)

but some of them really have no choice but to go there because its their job...how can you force a woman that just had a child to go to a war for 1 year? how can you force a muslim to go to Iraq and make war against his own people?

of course they all signed the contract and get the money..but honestly..do you think its a right way to make war? look what happened in TX and this was not the first time that soldier did something crazy because he didnt want to go to war.

America need to re-think their morals and motivations.
The problem is that most people who join the service expect that their government will not send them off to war unless it is a last resort. Unfortunately the Bush administration was planning the war in Iraq during the Clinton presidency through a group called PNAC. I you get a chance check out the documentary Why We Fight, it explains that the military industrial complex in this country need a war every now and then to justify it's existence.
Bush was whack!
That's a tough call. On one hand, they signed up for it, on the other, it seems inhumane and immoral. I can see why the military would state this kind of rule, but would be against it if they applied it.
