Just recently the Indian Government has decided to legalise gay sex. Well it would not be correct to say that totally legalise the same. Rather on the pressure of various social activism groups has decided to amend the earlier law that demanded terrible punishment for people found indulging in this act. It was welcomed with a strange response. While urban Indians, a select few, welcomed the same numerous religious groups reacted to this rather bitterly. They are opposed to it utterly. This has set me thinking. I believe everyone has the right to live and be the way they are. But the religious sects and the orthodox community in India is noty ready to think this way. Isn't this related to genetic disorder? Then why is it such a taboo, I did a personal reserach and found out that even in the 100 odd countries where gay sex has been legalised bitterness towrds them still survives. I have some gay friends who reluctantly opened up to me and all I could do was sympathesize with them. They see no future for them and it's really saddening. I believe I have touched upon a very sensitive issue but I would like to know as to how would each one of you reading this react and how do you genuinely feel about the same?

AS always i've asked myself why there are more and more gays.Do people like killing eachover, too much stress; I can beleive that gays might love eachother truely eventough I never had any homosexual relationship. Is misundserstanding betwen men and women so big that some of us have to turn to their own category. It si not really the purpose of life, they can't have any kids.
My fear is when there will be many gay couples, will they try taking kids out from hetero couples to fulfil this lack.
May be I am luchy when thinking I should wait for the good one who with it won't be misadventure.

I dont think you understand homosexuality. People dont decide to be gay they are. So it has nothing to do with being tired of the opposite sex or misunderstanding them. Also there are not more gays there are more societies that are accepting enough for gay people to live openly. Also I dont think the purpose of life is reproduction. There are lots of straight and gay couples that are happy without children. And if a gay couple does want a child there are ways for them to have one. Lesbians can seek sperm donors. I know of a set of couples (two lesbians and two gay men) that decided to have children. The men donated there sperm and the women so they could have children. Also adoption is a wonderful thing, lots of straight couples that cant have children and want one adopt.
In response to your reply to Rachel Anne, it is persecution. I live in the capitol of Florida and in my county it is legal for a queer person to be fired from their job for being gay, bi or transsexual. Not to mention that in Texas this June (pride month) there were two police raids on gay bars. These are just a few instances of big discrimination and persuasion that I can think of off the top of my head. Gay bashing does happen in America still, and there are countries that are far less tolerant towards queers.
I am curious do you know any queer people? I can think that is so much easier for a person not to be able to understand gay rights issues when they have never been friends with or know a queer person.

I did know and talked to a few homosexual, most of them have had problems with one of their parents and considered ot treated as the weak in a family. They related that chilhood or teenage were often a bad dream with peopll taking the micky without knowing why. Society doesn't like to have evidence' of what she can do to human : powerty , homosexuality, criminality and so on when someone is gay or not.Just education : privat life, none of my business.

I'm not really sure what the question is here... but prejudice of any form is wrong in my book. If it doesn't hurt anyone- what's the problem? I'm a firm believer in the saying "If it makes you happy.... it can't be that bad." Who am I to judge anyone? It's not for me, but that doesn't make it wrong.
I wish for everyone in the world to be able to be themselves without fear of persecution. Someday, hopefully.

What about the millions of heterosexual couples who choose not to have children? Being a parent isn't for everyone.. (thank GOD)

Okay first off "stephanie" when trying to pass a long a message, can you spell check or something because your spelling is brutal.
That aside when you say "most of them have had problems with one of their parents and considered to treated as the weak in a family" that may be because they had a parent who wasn't accepting of their sexual preference.

It is just hard to read such ignorance. More homosexuality takes place in the animal kingdom, & if you try and say that isn't natural, your dense.

Brutal?Do you know that homosexuals are considereds as victims of our society,That's what I wanted to say and I repeat sa iI hacve the same consideration meaning not considering on the seual belonging I would talk and treat you as any of the heteros. But I would be softer for the understanding in the behavior.
Ignorance ?I feel happy in relationship with men and if I'm not I stay single.
Life isn't that soft with me either, I respect what you like so I lang for respect of the fact that I 'm happy the way I live
