I work for Hachette Book Group so the best part is access to a lot of books. We get an amazing discount on our books and, we get other discounts from other companies. Twice a year we get days where we'll get a box and we can grab as many books as we'd like. It's became such a problem that I've had to buy two other bookcases because there are so much good stuff. Art books that are normally $75-$200 a pop are normally what I go for. It's really nice and the company goes out of the way to make sure our work is appreciated.
I'm only 24 and I've got full health care coverage where the co-pays and what not are low. Paid vacations and all other stuff I know my friends don't have privileged to. I'm rather thankful and happy for that.
I work for a boutique hotel in Austin and the best part is meeting interesting people. Everyone from Drew Barrymore to Malcolm Gladwell to the head of the British Consulate to bands like Sonic Youth and The Flaming Lips have stayed in recent months. Just meeting people out of your usual world is cool.
What I like about my job is:
A) endless ways to be creative and improvise.
B) I meet people on the happiest day of their lives.
and
C) there are always interesting people to be met in the industry :]
I'm an assistant pastry chef for a wonderful Wedding Cake Baker and dessert specialist.
