True
All artists are self obsessed - it goes with the job
I think that may be true but ambitious means money hungry. Those not driven for fame or approval are or can be true artists. When a price is put on art it ceases to be art.
a great deal of true, artists have the responsibility to project a moment for eternity, innovate and questioning the known, forcing the viewer to touch another dimension
Art , especially musical art, is an ocean ...four dimensions ie. up-down-sideways and above the waterline .... delivered thru the medium of the 'person' .....and each ONE the psyche of a snowflake ... but seriously holmes don't feel madison avenue sux us in ... ponder the BIG PICTURE ...it's a CONTROL GRID candidly implanted by those with very ancient money that affords them the best in social engineering even with the worst intentions like population reduction ...be afraid of that friend.... study that ....
Eh?
ah!
Too true!
While I'd love to agree with ANYTHING that bashes advertising (in the common, cigarettes-and-greed sense of the word,) art has always been pure expression, released from the mind of one (or many) individual(s) in one form, and received by viewers in various other forms. It's always been a matter of perception, and modern art is no exception.
Hasn't always been pure expression, could be argued that there has only ever been advertisers & artists, even in the renaissance period - advertising wealth & religion! Pure expression came much later.
Only the veredict of history will decide what is the best art ot our time...Perhaps many of the art pieces that are appreciated in the future come from the advertising industry...
