i usually get mine when i'm in my bed and unable to sleep because that's when my mind tends to go into overdrive.
besides causing severe lack of sleep i don't mind it too much because it tends to be when those creative moments happen.
I then end up drawing until the morning...
Between slumber and sleep very often. Then I have to jot everything down really quickly before I lose the idea.
Also, very randomly, when I'm talking with my friends about something completely else.
So yeah..nights and weekends are great for brainstorming. Daytime is for execution.
after or before a fearful situation or a feeling that theres no point to the medium or ideas you are presently doing or useing..and in perserverance of change and even perserverance of waiting..you become inspired...it helps to forgive the reasons for fear as bad feeling can stop your creative wheels
I wish I was able to narrow it down better. I love what was said about it in the film Art & Copy. "The frightening and most difficult thing about being what somebody calls a creative person is that you have absolutely no idea where any of your thoughts come from really and especially you don’t have any idea about where they’re going to come from tomorrow." — Hal Riney
