With the United States cooling down since 1998, and the crazy winter weather the entire country has been facing this December (2008) what is your thinking on Global Warming? Real or an earth cycle?

That's a very good question. With the amount of carbon emissions and pollution that the world produces it's very difficult for me to rationalize that it would have absolutely no effect on the earth. I'm absolutely no expert on the matter, but I do believe that through industrialization the world is speeding up global warming of the earth. Will the earth correct itself at a certain point? That's another question that is left to be seen.

Combo of both. I think our actions are accelerating any warming that may take place, however if you look at the history of earth there have been temperature changes throughout. One thing is constant....change.

Its not a matter of belief; its a matter of recognition of science over politics, and understanding that any legitimate scientist in the field understands better than the layperson that global warming is a result of man made greenhouse gases. While ice ages existed and were a natural phenomenon (taking place over thousands of years), its clear there is nothing natural about this recent increase in temperature (taking place over decades and coinciding with the industrial revolution).

I'm not a scientist... I really don't know. I don't think that we are harming the earth quite as much as some people make it out to be, but I definitely think that people have an effect on the planet.

I believe that we, as humans, have a negative effect on the environment, no one, not even scientists "really" know what is happening or will happen and how soon and for how long. Rather than argue about whether its real or myth, we should look at the money we could save as well as the environmental impact, with a little thought and innovation.

Around my house since we've actively cut back, and moved into more green ways of thinking we're saving $30-40/mo on Electricity, and 5-10/mo on gas.

We're only getting paper bags at the store. we actively separate our recyclables. Its too gross to store that crap to make that money back so I usually track down a local bum and donate my cans and bottles.

Global warming is indeed take a toll on the natural behaviour of the earth, courtesy us. Its evident by the soaring temperatures which each one of us has felt and also regular reports on newspapers and journals regarding rising sea water level, melting of glaciers and the like.

Its negligence and ignorance on our part that has resulted in the same. I believe that the situation is irreversible but can be curbed or brought to a controlled one by proper awareness programs and a will to deal with it.
