Thinking about things I am thankful for I would definitely include in that list the Met. There are literally thousands of websites I could be on at any time but I always come back to this one. Why? Great people, great conversation, and a window into cool new design and art. That is why I am here.

But what brought you here and what makes you stay? Or, if you are leaving us, why?

What is different about this place?

I'm not sure how I got here but like Mark said, they are frequently putting up new information related to design and art. As well they allow people to post their own "conversation" such as the one I am now answering which adds to a community feel.

I enjoy everyday coming on here and having the freedom to comment on something but at the same time there aren't so many people commenting that you get drowned out.

Overall. Very friendly place.

"At the same time there aren't so many people commenting that you get drowned out" - I'm really happy you feel that way.

Mark, you put it perfectly. "Great people, great conversation, and a window into cool new design and art."
On top of that its one of the rare places on the web you can feel connected to people in way that is meaningful. Sharing your life experiences with someone that you would most likely never get to know.
Most of all it's a friendly place that focuses on the positive. Inspiration and sharing the common bond amongst good people.

The thing that I love about here is that everything is always so current. I see things that I'm interested that I've stumbled upon a few other sites. Usually the Met always has it first. Plus I feel at home here. Something always interests me on here. It's just wonderful.

Hey there Kristine! We do our best to stay on top of the news - both current events and anything design/art related. It's nice to know that you guys notice. :)

Well, for me, I stumbled on this site. I have profiles on Myspace, Facebook, myYearbook....and the other conversations going on there are "Hi, you're hot", etc....I was looking for places where people actually talked.
I was very surprised and pleased with how everyone responded back to anything I put out there. Very friendly people on here. People you can actually meet in person and be glad you did.
The art on here has been great. I love photography and I've gotten some great ideas and I've seen more good artists on here than if I was searching by myself on the net.
A very interesting site and I'm thankful for it. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, Robin. As cheesy as this may sound, I've always felt that the greatest gift we could ever give each other is inspiration. Inspiration to follow your own passion.

The Met is sooo on top of current art it's great. Great topics and from what I've seen, interesting and nice people.

Also, I've been to an art fair in Amsterdam, PAN Amsterdam (google it) and it was full of pretentious people who think they are so damn smart when they discuss art (using big words which sometimes confuse me), while they've been looking an abstract piece which has been hung sideways. -_-;
I don't find any hint of pretentiousness here on the Met at all.

I've been browsing and reading a couple of times before I decided to join. Thanks Met..and thank you Mark Huckabee for this valuable topic.

Hey Inka! I love how you mentioned that this place isn't pretentious. One of the coolest things about living in these times is that we get to see creativity from anyone and everyone. Art doesn't have to hang on a wall, to me, it's anything that gives people an experience.
