Overall Site Q: How is the site organized?
A: The left hand column is for general admin. The middle column is where members can contribute (in the Forum or Blog) where ANY MEMBER can post a question or write about their experiences. A great thing about this site is that ANY MEMBER can put up a blog post or forum question that can be displayed on the main page!
The right hand column is mostly for links.
Q: How do you choose your links or what you blog about? A: All of these are based on either personal experience or from something we find really interesting. We have not been paid in any way to put up anything on this site from an advertiser. The site is currently not funded or sponsored by advertisers.
Inviting Friends Q: Who can invite people?
A: Any member of 'My Modern Metropolis' can invite their friends. We hope that you'll invite people that you feel would enjoy being a part of this community.
Q: How do you invite people? A: Click on the link 'Invite More' in the right hand column or up above on one of the tabs. You can either type in email addresses or pull in email addresses from your Yahoo, Hotmail GMail or AOL accounts. Blogs andForums Q: How do you blog? A: Click on the link '+ Blog Post'. If you'd like, post up a picture first, before you write any text, by pushing the picture button on the toolbar. If you put up a picture first, the picture will be displayed on the main page. Then, follow with some text. To make text in your blog post into a clickable link, highlight the text you want to be linked and click the “Insert a Link" icon in the toolbar. This button looks like a chain link. In the box that pops up, type the URL you want the text to linkto. Once you save your text box or blog post, anyone can use the link.
If you want to get a little more advanced (and you know you do), you can put this small piece of code in so that the link takes you to a whole new page. Right before the words you link into, insert this "target=_blank"
Q: Are all blog posts displayed on the main page? A: No, you have the option of keeping your blog post only on your page (check Privacy settings). However, you also have the option of putting it on the main page which we encourage you to do! Q: Can anyone post a forum question or blog post?
A: Yes, anyone can. We monitor everything that goes up, however, and we reserve the right to take anything down at any time. This includes anyone trying to promote themselves without our consent. I'm all for being on MySpace to promote yourself, the Met just isn't that kind of place.
Q: Are there regular blog posts that are put up by 'My Modern Met'? A: Yes! Every Wed and Thurs watch out for these special blog posts that'll give you some recommended things to do in the weekend ahead: Wed: Art+CultureThurs:Movies Privacy Q: Who can see the content I upload to a network? A: When you add blog posts, photos and videos you can choose the item's privacy level. You can choose to make an item viewable only by you. If you make an item friends-only, then only your friends and the Admins can see it. You can also choose to make items viewable by anyone. Certain pieces of content are always viewable to everyone on the network. This includes your profile photo, your answers to public profile questions, forum posts and anything you add into the text box on your profile page.Other Q: Where are you based? A: We're based in Los Angeles. You'll see a lot of focus right now on things to do in and around LA, however, we have plans to bring in new and fresh content from all over the world.
Q: Can I keep listening to 'My Modern Met's' playlist when I leave the main page? A: Yes! If you click the "Open Popup Window" icon, the music player will open in a new window. Just keep this new window open as you browse the network to continue to listen to the network's playlist even after you've left the Met.
