Gondole:

The gondola is a traditional Venetian rowing boat. Once the most common boat in Venice, it is now used mainly for romantic sightseeing of Italy, as a shuttle for short trips to cross the Grand Canal, and for rowing races.

The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian Lagoon. Gondolas were for centuries the chief means of transportation within Venice and still have a role in public transport, serving as traghetti (ferries) over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special Regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. Their primary role, however, is to carry tourists on rides at established prices
