About Me

I suck at writing "about me" sections. No really, I do. I always try to conjure up some interesting facts about my dull and excruciatingly normal life. Here is my latest attempt.

I'm currently pursuing a BA in Business Administration at Boston University (awesome timing in this economy, eh?) After that, I'll probably get my master's or my law degree.. depending on how much money I can squeeze out of my parents. I want to stay in school forever. I am terrified of the "real world." I even wrote a 40 page thesis on Peter Pan and wanting to stay a kid forever.

I like to draw. I like to paint. I like to play the piano. I like to play the guitar. I like to dance. I like to write. I like to run. I am, at most, mediocre at all these things.

I love to bake. When I do finally finish school and land myself a boring little job in a boring little accounting firm, I totally see myself having a "mid life" crisis (is 30 considered "mid life?"), quitting my boring little job, and opening up a quaint little cupcake shop. My cupcakes are to die for. So are my oatmeal raisin cookies (hmm.. oatmeal raisin cupcakes?? must give those a try..)

I like red cups and holiday drinks from Starbucks, the smell of cedar wood, wearing high heels (sometimes), Scrabble, the way the wind blows right before it rains, summer in the city, sudoku, pearls, the Red Sox, and James Bond. I like math and crunching numbers and when I'm bored or on a long run I make up math problems and solve them in my head. That is why I am going to be an accountant.

I hate snow. But I really like to go ice fishing with my dad. I also used to like to steal trays from the dining hall and go tray sledding in the Common with my friends. Then my school decided to be more "eco friendly" and so they went tray-less. Since when is saving the planet more important than tray sledding?

I am always listening to music. I like the kind that makes me feel like a badass. I also like the kind that makes me want to jump up and down and shake my ass (my horrible take on dancing.. I guess 15 years of proper tap, jazz, and hip-hop lessons were a waste of money..) And The Beatles. I love The Beatles. One of my life dreams is to walk up to Paul McCartney and pinch his cheeks.

I am the worst at conclusions. I used to completely leave them out of my essays, even though it always cost me 10 points. It seemed worth it to me. I'd rather have 10 points be taken off my essay than spend 10 hours agonizing over a conclusion. I like my major a lot because I never have to take another writing class again.

Facebook in Reality

Ever wonder what would happen if Facebook was real life? Here's a comedy from http://www.idiotsofants.com as featured on BBC Three's show 'The Wall.' I couldn't even imagine what I would do if someone knocked on my door and did this to me.. Continue

Mime Epidemic? Or Genius Advertising?

"McDonald's has recently launched a new interactive sign where passers-by can interact with images displayed on McDonald's giant LED screen, and visitors can take an interactive role at one of London's most photographed locations."

McDonald's has seemed to pick up on the innate human nature to take "mime" photos (I mean, how many people can resist the urge to take a picture "holding up" the Leaning Tower of Pisa?) Cute idea, I think.

More pictures on their… Continue

Lost Pics of The Beatles & The Stones to be put on display in NYC gallery

I'm a HUGE fan of The Beatles. HUGE. I have a Beatles calendar. They're the background on my laptop. I'm reading their biography by Hunter Davies right now. I have over 2 gigs of Beatles songs on my iTunes. My cellphone's ringtone is "Penny Lane." I can relate specific events in my… Continue

LATEST ACTIVITY

Buy lingerie for yourself and a webcam and skype away.

Those are great ideas, both a flip and a webcam would come in extremely useful. Maybe in addition to one of those you could put together an album/scrapbook of the memories you've shared for the year you've been dating. I know I'd want something to...

Good Idea, these things are pretty cool.

How about a small handheld video cam? http://www.theflip.com/en-us/products/mino.aspx#/shareable He can take it around, easy to upload for him to share to you..... and share some of the things he's going through.

Hey Kristin !

I came across your profile and I wanted to leave a few lines. I really like how you described yourself. I find it cute and really honest. We have some similar tastes (except for the math part ^^) I'm not so sure you suck at everything you say you suck at though, especially about writing "about me" sections. :)
And nice music, btw.

Bye (from Paris) !

I love field hockey! Hockey's about the only team sport I ever liked playing, but mostly as a goalie. ^__^ What position did you like to play as or played as? That's too bad about your coach. I wish our school system offered a field hockey team among the other sports. I would've joined or tried to join for sure! Hmm I've found that being over actively involved in a hobby or sports can burn you out and make you never want to do that again. I loved, loved, loved karate but I got so burnt out at the end that I just wanted to quit. Eventually, I did have to quit, but not by choice rather by an incident. I happened to tear my ACL in one of the practices to prepare me for my black belt test. It sucked because I was only 3 weeks away from getting my black belt. I wish I could've gotten the belt and then stopped lol. I haven't been able to do anything really active sports wise ever since. I miss it a lot now.

So, you're an artsy person, huh? Me, too! I love, love, love art in its many forms from photography, writing to music. ^__^ My life would be way worse without art. It's been such a good emotional outlet for me. How about you? Why do you love art so much? What kind of artsy stuff do you like to do? Do you play any other instrument besides guitar?

My novels... I am not far with my novels right now. I have about 3 or 4 short stories that I am working on. I hope to be able to either combine them into one novel or be able to write separate novels for each story. My themes are mostly about discovering oneself and moving through life's obstacles. I only have a couple of pages written for each story so far. I could show you them some time if you're interested.

I love your about me section. You do not sound like you have a boring life at all. :) We share a lot of common interests. I'm also majoring into Accounting and I also am getting a degree in Economics. I don't know if that's a good idea in this time of global recession but it's still good to know about managing finances and all that good stuff. Opening up a bakery/cupcake shop sounds like a great idea. I bet it will be good. :)

Music... like you I also love music. I play several instruments at a mediocre level, I think but it's still fun nonetheless. I'm constantly listening to music especially at work. I need it or else I get really bored.

So do you do any sports besides running? I don't like to run lol. I did karate for almost six years, though and that was a lot of fun. Oh and I also hate writing endings to a papers. :) Wouldn't it be cool if you could be a student as a profession and get paid for it?

Kristin, nice choice of music; so you would define maximum love as letting your love beat you at scrable? Could you please do me a huge favour and read the prologue of my new novel. I'd like to know the natural emotions that the imagery brings to you please.
Love,
Andrea Elizabeth
