I'm really diggin' these new pieces by urban artist PaperMonster. Recently found on the streets of Brooklyn, New York, the works are part of his "Give and Take Project."

PaperMonster is a stencil graffiti artist whose vivid and intricate pieces explore the beauty behind…

Take a trip with me today and let's visit the wonderful country of Japan. But let's not take the usual route, a plane ticket there is much too expensive. Instead, let's ask our photographer friends to give us their unique perspective. Let's ask them to show us how they see modern-day Japan.…

Modern Design: Misa Digital Guitar (video inside)

Music purists...look away! You may not like this new digital guitar but before you cry bloody murder check this out. A completely digital guitar, the Misa comes with a 8.4-inch 800-by-600-pixel resolution LCD touchpad which you strike to hit the notes. No more strings? Well yes but because the touchpad is pressure-sensitive, the harder you strike, the louder the notes… Continue

Retro-Modern Tarantino Movie Posters (8 total)

There's nothing I enjoy more than seeing movie posters remade by modern artists. The best ones, I believe, are the posters where the artist has put his or her own unique spin on them, giving us that unique experience or aha! moment when we correlate the art to the movie. (Extra bonus points for a retro or vintage modern look.) Just like in my previous post,…

A Childhood Classic Brightens Up Envelopes

If you were like me as a child, Calvin & Hobbes was the best comic strip ever. It had a tiger, a mischief-making kid, and some beleagured parents/teachers that had to deal with both. It captured my imagination and expanded my vocabulary...

This summer the USPS will release a Calvin & Hobbes stamp. Maybe that will make paying my bills a little less… Continue

Machotaildrop Trailer

This might be the first good movie to ever use skateboarding as a major plot device. The film looks like something Wes Anderson or Spike Jonze (co owner of Girl Skateboards) might have made ten years ago. Those guys have nothing to do with the film instead it is some winners of a Fuel TV contest. I'm looking forward to checking this… Continue

Making Magical Landscapes (7 total)

Is it just me or does the mysterious woman in black remind you of Mrs. Steven Jobs? Who else would have the propensity to wear all black and create unbelievably cool magical scenes? Sorry to burst your bubble but these amazing landscapes are actually the work of Belgian artist Magdalena Bors. Using household items she makes the ordinary...extraordinary.…

Hilarious Protest Signs

On Friday the Westboro Baptist Church staged a protest outside Twitter headquarters in SF. Their disgusting signs were totally upstaged by a brilliant group who gathered carrying signs guaranteed to amuse and befuddle all passersby. Here are some of my favorites.
