Went to the Cameo Bar at the Viceroy hotel and I fell in love with it again as always. The modern design and classy colors designed by Kelly Wearstler, and plenty of seating in the pool and cabana area makes this a prime location to have drinks with friends. Cameo bar has no cover, however, drinks are pretty pricey at $15 a pop. With plenty of parking available on the street, the Viceroy is my pick for best Hotel Bar on the…

I will admit something, I get really pissed off when my computer isn't as fast as I am. I will be trying to open up 5 windows at once (Facebook, Typepad, My Modern Met, gmail, and CNN) when something suddenly freezes up or takes about 5 seconds too long to get there. I get pissed. I'm talking blood curdling pissed. Then, everything opens up and I am happy again. Relieved. After about a minute I start laughing bc I know I am being absolutely…

I just came off a high.

Sam, Eugene and I met up with some of the core members of the Met at Aegean restaurant in Laguna Beach tonight. There are so many wonderful things I am going to take away from our three hour dinner - I don't think a blog post can handle that many words. How best can I describe it? It was hope, inspiration, love, trust, and admiration all rolled up in one.
I have to…

The OC fair is back and this year's theme is "Say Cheese!"
Bebe King, Chris Isaak, and One Republic are the headliners for the fair. Based on Yelp reviews, the Peking Acrobats were one of the highlights of last year's fair and will return with daily shows at 5:15pm., 7:15pm. and 9:15pm.
And of course there's the delectable treats:
Deep Fried:
zucchini, mushrooms, avocados, tomatoes, peanut butter and…

This is one of those things that could be really cool or really cheesy. I'm going to go with cool bc it reminds me of some of the attractions at Universal Studios. Plus they put in $7 million on the ride (of the $38 million they spend on renovating their complex).
CNN has the whole story on this today.
A newly opened… Continue

Ok, so I guess this is where the self-love comes in (Kara, I am trying).
I wanted to tell you how I became 1 of 100 ambassadors of OneWebDay, 'cause it's quite hilarious.
I wanted to sign up for a social network or Web 2.0 conference, so I was clicking around on websites (this was literally 2 days ago) and happened to come across something about Craig Newmark. I had read about him before but saw that he had a…

As all of you may know, I absolutely love our wedding photographer,
Jessica Claire. Her work is so beautiful - she somehow captures moments that no one could ever possibly see. I had a chance to sit down and talk to Jessica about her sources of inspiration. I'm not one to write a detailed account of each of the questions I asked her - it was more about trying to understand the…

Brocade Home
Brocade Home has the absolute best stuff in the whole world. Its like they saw into my brain and decided to make a whole line of stuff that I can't live without! Which stinks because its also not the cheapest stuff ever. Actually, I think its pretty reasonably priced for what it is. Everything seems to be really high quality, made of good hardwoods and beautiful fabrics.
They even have gorgeous wallpaper!!!…

Eternal Verities by Caia Koopman - Opening reception on 7/5 @ 8pm-11pm

When I first saw Caia Koopman's work, it immediately drew me in. “My philosophy behind this body of work is that there is a strained relationship between nature, humanity and femininity. Nature and femininity have a huge presence in my art. Not only is nature beautiful and strong, but simultaneously fragile as are my female characters. I want to provide a message…
