I think this guy is just incredible. My parents started collecting his paintings a few years ago, and I have become a huge fan. His work is so life like its crazy.
Here is a bit of his bio from his website:
Thomas Arvid possesses an unerring ability to refine a moment. In doing so he captures our wonder and has become an art world phenomenon. Art Business News (May 2003) credits him with "launching a major art trend…" with his oversized still… Continue
Expect to stumble into wine country in the heart of Orange County at the Winery Restaurant at the District in Tustin. Managing Partners JC Clow and William Lewis, together with award winning Exec. In addition to the extensive and impressive wine offerings, The Winery delivers a cutting-edge menu featuring contemporary California regional… Continue

So my girl is working in this meeting @ the St Regis with Xango group. They're showcasing their line of health food and drink products. Bars, chips, and this mysterious juice that I have dubbed Noni #2. They gave her a bottle of this very expensive stuff (almost $40/bottle and doesn't get you drunk or laid) which we tried, its quite thick for a juice, but fairly easy to drink. It has a tart aftershock that'll make your eyelids shudder. I personally don't think I would buy… Continue

I just wanted to call attention to the Obon Festival happening this weekend in downtown LA.
OBON is a traditional event to honor and express gratitude to the spirits of our ancestors, those before us who provided us with the gift of life. Each year, obon is a time to celebrate the return of the spirits of our ancestors.
Seems like they are going to make this one cool event:
From their website:
Once a year, we at American Apparel gather all the clothes in our factory to create a giant pile for you to dig through. Discounts and fun abound! Don't believe us? Last year, 4,000 people showed up to go through (and take… Continue
I like how these pictures jump out at you. They were made by Macacolandia, a Brazilian illustration studio. The box at the top right states, "Give more life to your illustrations."
I love how Chef David Chang speaks from his heart. Nothing better.
Charlie Rose's conversation with David Chang: David Chang is chef/owner of Momofuku Noodle Bar, Momofuku Ko and Momofuku Ssäm Bar in New York City. Chang has taken the food world by surprise, he has already won two James Beard awards and both Bon Appeitie and GQ named him chef of the year in 2007.…
As much as the Met has opened up new and exciting opportunities and ideas, it's also given me a fair amount of stress. Putting yourself out to the public is damn scary, I don't care who you are. So as much as I love conquering that fear, I can't help but struggle with it each and every day.
Here are the particular questions that have haunted me these past few weeks:
1. Will I ever feel ready to open up the Met to the public?
2.… Continue
So Eug and I hit up Comic-Con today to check out this crazy event. Comic-Con is known not just as a comic book event, it's known as a pop culture event.
"Nyokki" is a Japanese onomatopeia that mimics the sound of a plant growing! All original characters are handmade in Japan from glazed ceramic, shaped like an egg (1.75" H x 1.875") with fabric legs. Filled with a growing medium and rye grass seed, Nyokki are easy to grow - seeds germinate and grass grows to full height in less than… Continue

Reverse graffiti is a method of creating graffiti on walls or other surfaces by removing dirt from a surface.
The San Francisco’s Broadway tunnel is a highly traveled passageway in the heart of the city. Over 20,000 cars, trucks, and motorized vehicles pass through it per day. Its walls are caked with dirt and soot, and lined with patches of paint covered graffiti from days gone by. It set the perfect canvas to create a beautiful work of… Continue
