(Note: Reposting with interview added.) When we first laid eyes on Yum Yum's hilarious vinyl toys, we couldn't stop laughing. With cool characters that range from a kick-ass, karate-wielding granny to an action hero with a fondness for chickens, they all make you want to stop and come up with your own crazy story behind them.
Our friends over at National Geographic never cease to amaze us. We thought we'd seen it all when it came to photos of lions in the wild, until we saw this. These new infrared images are totally amazing!
"It is only once the sun has gone down beyond the horizon that the deadly lion truly comes to life, using scent and sound to stalk and kill its prey," says… Continue

Splattered with paint, Angela Fraleigh's female subjects look like they're desperately trying to say something. There's an uneasy vibe in her pieces, making her work even more captivating. Creating a lot of ambiguity, Fraleigh invites us to draw our own conclusions.
Fraleigh explains: "These tensions are heightened as paint itself becomes a tool for the… Continue
The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar. Chinese people believe that on that day, the moon will be the biggest, roundest and brightest, and the term "round" implies family reunion in Chinese. The Frame put… Continue

We've all seen our fair share of minimalist movie posters but to add in famous quotes brings them to a whole new and interesting level. Graphic designer Jerod Gibson just recently created this series called 37 Posters. Each poster not only contains a simple silhouette image from a movie or tv show, it's also filled with memorable quotes. Love how he's incorporated… Continue

Even though this Vogue UK spread is from late 2007, it's still one of my favorites. Mario Testino proves time and time again why he's one of the best fashion photographers in the world. Here he is with one of the most beautiful models of the moment, Sasha Pivovarova.…
With bright red and white racing stripes, the Centauro concept store in São Paulo, Brazil will surely make your heart race. Right as you walk in, it's like stepping into a different world, a place that would make Speed Racer feel right at home.

The curvy shape of the Wave Apartments in Vejle, Denmark makes me want to go on a thrilling rollercoaster ride. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, the structure was inspired by the characteristics of the area: the fjord, bridge, town, and hills.
The building includes 140 modern apartments,… Continue
Just how does a photographer capture pure, passionate moments? Just ask Michael Creagh. Working with fellow fashion photographer Rinze Van Brug and fashion stylist Keith S. Washington, they've created a beautiful series of kissing photos for Metropop Magazine.
Why kissing? Creagh explain, "It was exciting and a little unexpected. It is a fashion story, so… Continue
This is, quite possibly, the coolest photo you'll see today. It's of a telescope in Chile blasting a bright orange laser into the sky to create a virtual star in the heart of the Milky Way. The star, 56 miles high, helps compensate for the Earth's atmospheric interference.
More and more, I've been noticing how modern art has influenced advertising. Take this ad campaign by BBDO NY, for example. When I first saw the images, they instantly reminded me of Liu Bolin's… Continue
If there was a prize that could be given out to the most creative father, I'd hope that it was awarded to Jason Lee. A wedding photographer by day, he's used to capturing some of the most important moments in a couple's lives. As a longtime fan of Jason's photos on Flickr however, I think the real magic happens when he…
Reminiscent of something Jonathan Adler might do, these kitschy cute ceramic lamps are just whimsical enough that I want them all displayed on my mantle. This new lighting collection, by Abigail Ahern, was showcased at the London Design Festival. I love the different colored lampshade atop each of the sculptures and how just one of them could "lighten" up a whole… Continue

These amazing images were taken by the hand of Herman Leonard. Here's an excerpt from the Edelman Gallery explaining his work.
"Photographing such notables as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk and Miles Davis, Leonard became a fixture of the jazz scene, his photographs gracing the covers of more than 200 albums. In… Continue
There aren't many other places in the world I'd rather be during this time of year. I mean, look at how much fun these people are having at Octoberfest in Munich. With good food, happy people, and lots and lots of beer, the Germans sure know how to throw a rockin' party....
According to The Big Picture: "This year marks the 177th Oktoberfest to be held, 2010 is the 200th anniversary of the very first Oktoberfest in…
