The other day I watched the free premiere of "Nurse Jackie", the latest series on Showtime that you can grab on iTunes or directly on the Showtime website

The first episode looks very promising, and just like in "Sopranos" Edie Falco adds a great drama touch to that "Yet Another Hospital Drama Series".

Amazing Technology - Microsoft's Project Natal

How ridiculous is technology getting? This will blow your mind.

At the E3 conference that's going on right now in Los Angeles, Microsoft just released Project Natal, a revolutionary hands-free motion-sensitive controller system. The technology, as demonstrated above, allows users to control games, movies, and anything else on their Xbox system with their hands alone, and without touching any hardware.

Here is Project Milo (thanks for the tip… Continue

Movie on the Radar: Food, Inc.

How much do we really know about the food we buy at our local supermarkets and serve to our families?

In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of… Continue

Controversial Modern Art - Device to Root Out Evil

No, this picture isn't upside down. "Device to Root Out Evil" was designed by American artist Dennis Oppenheim, and is a sculpture of what looks to be an upside-down church. The steeple, usually piercing the sky in its lunge toward heaven, is now at ground level, pursuing with vigor, the demons of the deep.

"A country church is seen balancing on its steeple, as… Continue

Do buildings dream?

The side of the Hotel St. George, in Viale Tunisia, Milan has been transformed into a living, breathing, dreaming creature by a group called Abstract Groove. They have put up a temporary video installation that let's the building come alive. They describe it as “an audiovisual experiment of perceptive transformation in architecture, through abstract narration, which will show the building as a screen and protagonist… Continue

Bar Refaeli for Harpers Bazaar (June 2009 Issue)

Boys must love Bar Refaeli. After all, she's named after one of their favorite places. And her svelte body shape looks as solid as the wood pieces constructed to hold up pint after foamy pint of their favorite cold beverages. Why, she should be nominated to be a Bud Light Real Man of Genius. (We salute you!)…

Yeah Yeah Yeah ~ "Heads Will Roll" (music video)

Yes! Yes! Yes!

The video for the New York City group's new single "Heads Will Roll," from their third studio album, It's Blitz!, was directed by British director Richard Ayoade.

How can anyone deny the magnetic gaze peering from vocalist Karen O's bangs and her haunting, high-pitched "Oh!"s that go down like a cup of sharp nails drowning in velvety hot chocolate.

Getting to Know Karen O --

MTV Japan VMAs 2009

Katy Perry showing us where babies come from, at the MTV Japan Video Music Awards on May 30, 2009.

Highlights according to the Guardian:

On the red carpet, guests fall into three categories: Japanese male pop stars who try to look as bored and pissed-off as possible, Japanese female pop stars who try to look as scared and under immediate threat as possible, and foreigners … who just muck about.

Citroen revives the iconic DS with the DS3 concept">

Citroen, the French automaker that's not like any others is reviving the iconic "DS" badge.

As a reminder the DS was a car from the 60s-70s the was considered decades in advance compared to the cars on the market back then. It sported things that BMW or Audi are bragging about currently: self-leveling hydraulic suspension and turning headlight that were following the driver's…

An Incredible Will to Survive - Elephant Man

Here at theMET, we've teamed up with the people over at National Geographic and had the privilege of screening this emotional documentary last week. It's a story of tragedy and hardship, but most importantly, hope.

Known as "China's Elephant Man," Huang Chuncai suffers from an extreme condition that has grotesquely deformed his face. Exceptionally large tumors have stunted his growth, left his bones undeveloped, caused his spine to buckle and restricted his… Continue

Like a Blur (B44 Catalan Bistro, SF, CA)

From what I hear, warm evenings in San Francisco are pretty hard to come by, so when it is balmy out, the restaurants lining the Belden Place alleyway become an outdoor circus.

Having snagged a great seat at B44 with equally great friends, we merrily ate our way through small plates of tapas (the grilled morcilla sausage and paella were criminally good) and drank our way through bottles…

It's a Blonde Weekend: Latvia (9 pics)

I bet you didn't know there was such a thing as a "Blonde Weekend"...

On Sunday, a procession of more than 500 blondes paraded through Latvia's capital wearing pink and white. Many were escorted by lap dogs wearing the same cheerful hues. Their goal: to use their beauty to shine a little light into the dark mood caused by the global downturn..

Though it was far from being a protest march, some women used the opportunity to counter stereotypes. "I am beautiful, but I'm…

On the other side.

Acid free A4 115 gsm paper and glue

"The paper cut sculptures explore the probable and magical transformation of the flat sheet of paper into figures that expand into the space surrounding them. The negative and absent 2 dimensional space left by the cut, points out the contrast to the 3 dimensional reality it creates, even though the figures still stick to their origin without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is also… Continue
