On my recent trip to New York, I had the pleasure of staying at one of Morgan Hotel Group's newest hotels and the third Mondrian hotel to date, Mondrian SoHo. Make no mistake, this beautiful hotel, which opened in February 2011, is a…

Inside Philippe Starck's Stunning San Francisco Hotel

A few weekends ago, I went up to San Francisco to conduct an on-site interview with Pixar story artist Josh Cooley. While there, I was able to stay a few days at one of my very favorite places - Clift Hotel, a gorgeous luxury hotel designed by the one and only Philippe Starck. The San Francisco property opened in 2001 and,… Continue

Cars-Inspired V8 Hotel (12 pics)

Lightning McQueen and his Radiator Springs pals would surely approve of this hotel. After all, the V8 Hotel in Stuttgart, Germany seems like it's inspired by the Disney/Pixar movie "Cars."

The four star establishment is built inside the old Boblingen Airport and features 34 rooms, 10 with their own unique interior. Depending on their mood, guests can sleep… Continue

Hotel Tomo Review: A Japanese Pop-Culture Hotel

Last weekend, Eugene and I went up to San Francisco to attend StumbleUpon's 10 million Stumblers party. As I often times like to do when I go on trips, I booked reservations at a hotel I've always wanted to check out. (In fact, here's when I first found out about Tomo.) I'm sure you'd agree…

Beautiful Branding: Ace Hotel (12 pics)

Just who is behind Ace Hotel's beautiful branding? Who makes sure that every element, from the letterhead to the message on the bathroom mirror, looks consistently cool? That would be the talented trio, Mathew Foster, Fritz Mesenbrink & Jeremy Pelley, from The Official Manufacturing Company.

If you've ever visited an Ace, you'll immediately feel that…

Philippe Starck never ceases to amaze us. In his latest creation, the brilliant and somewhat crazy French designer has converted a former aristocratic home in Venice into a hotel. Created for Design Hotels, Palazzina Grassi promises a "magical world of mirrors, glass sculptures, rare books and vintage objects." True to form, Starck will surprise you with transparent…

Oldest Hotel on Earth

The Ryokan (japanese word for "traditional hotel") Hoshi is the oldest hotel in the world, since it was build in year 717! And the same family have run it all along this centuries. Placed in Hokiruki (Japan), the Hoshi Hotel looks like the perfect place to have a japanese old style vacation, including thermal baths, being one of the few places where both men and women can entered the baths together. Ok, it's 300 euros (385 US$) per night, but it's… Continue

What Does a $20 Milion Dollar Launch Party Look Like?: Atlantis Dubai

Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Dubai defied the economic crisis last night as stars flocked to South African billionaire Sol Kerzner's Atlantis resort for a $20 million party that included the world's largest fireworks display dazzling enough to be seen from space and a performance by pop singer Kylie Minogue.

C'mon!! Let's Go to a Concert! Hotel Cafe Tour's Last Stop: The Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theatre: Hollywood

Last night some friends and I were lucky enough to check out the Hotel Cafe Tour on their last stop of their six-week trek. The Hotel Cafe Tour is comprised of all girls, 18 to be exact, that interchange between shows. Some big names on the tour include Priscilla Ahn, Ingrid Michaelson, and Rachael Yamagata.

Urban HOTspot - ADCB at the Mondrian Hotel: West Hollywood

Went to check out ADCB yesterday, a new lobby bar that just opened up at the Mondrian last month. ADCB stands for "Asia de Cuba Bar". It's not a place you would want to spend your whole night at, but it's more like a swanky lounge to hang out if you aren't able to get into Skybar. Redesigned by Benjamin Noriega Ortiz, the lobby bar is awash in white while the… Continue

World's Worst Hotel Guests

Oh yes .. here we go on a fun ride with tonight's List.

AMY WINEHOUSE

Just before her messy performance at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, she tossed a plate of pasta Bolognese at the wall of her Munich hotel room and then cut up the carpet while members of her entourage—and the usually unflappable Snoop Dogg, who had come by to say hello at this very inopportune moment—watched in horror.…

London Hotel (West Hollywood)

So a while ago we met up with D's cousin during her visit to LA from NYC. She was staying at this chic and cozy boutique hotel right off Sunset (steps away from Ketchup). I loved the room which had an unconventional layout .. felt more like someone's studio flat than a hotel room, so comfortable, one could live there for weeks. Also - awesome rooftop pools + cabanas.

Hotel 1000 - When travelling to Seattle, this is the place to stay!

Similar to the W, but better, Hotel 1000 is all about the details. I stayed here a few days ago and couldn't have been more impressed. The staff always greeted me with warm, sincere smiles and were incredibly intuitive to my every need.

You know a room is perfect when you don't ever want to leave. The rooms are highly digital (free wifi and long distance calls along with a 40 " flat-screen HD TV ), the beds are SUPER comfortable (nice… Continue
