Right on the heels of the Arab Spring, America is attempting to muster it's own revolution. Angered by the greed and recklessness of corporate America, people began protesting in New York City's Financial District three weeks ago. Since then, the movement has only grown, spreading to other cities, including Boston, Boise, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Seattle and Tampa. In Focus…

Oktoberfest 2011 - In Focus

It's always around this time of year that I wish I was in Germany. This past Saturday, the 178th Oktoberfest opened in Munich, with the traditional tapping of the first keg of beer by mayor Christian Ude. The Bavarian festival takes place over 17 days and about 6 million people are expected to attend. Attendance is free, but a mug of delicious beer costs around €9.20 ($12.60 U.S.). These shots were taken on the first weekend of Oktoberfest 2011.… Continue

According to Alan Taylor's In Focus, "AP Photographer Charlie Riedel took a trip in a helicopter to capture images of…

Japan Earthquake: Two Months Later - In Focus

With so many huge events occurring around the world lately, it's hard to believe that the devastating 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan happened only two short months ago.

As of today, nearly 15,000 deaths have been confirmed, and more than 10,000 remain listed as missing. In some coastal communities, where the ground has sunk lower than the high tide mark, residents are still adjusting to twice-daily flooding.

Many thousands still…

Artificial Reefs Around the World

It's fascinating to see what type of objects governments throw into the ocean to create artificial reefs. Old and discarded subway cars, naval ships, and tanks rest on the sea floor, making homes for sea life and attracting divers. Artists have been busy as well, erecting underwater sculptures. Alan Taylor's… Continue
