150 Security Cameras Address the Issue of Privacy

Urban art firm SpY has created a massive installation, simply titled Cameras, made up of 150 fake security cameras all mounted onto the side of a building in Madrid, Spain. Viewing nothing in particular, the art piece is a clear statement about the concerns of privacy in our modern global society.

From George Orwell's popular dystopian novel 1984 to current concerns about NSA spying,…

Surprising 3D Street Art

You don’t have to have good balance to put someone up on this pedestal! Talented street artist e1000 recently created this 3D illusion on the streets of Madrid. E1000 is known for using a creative eye and paint to turn the patterns of grates, vents, and manhole covers into something new and appealing. Street artist Kapo created this fierce looking shark on a subway entrance in Madrid, Spain. Love how the 3D effect makes it look like the beast is coming out of water.

Edit: The subway entrance is some sort of ventilation and the artist is e1000ink.

The concept of CowParade started out in Switzerland in 1998, by renowned artistic director Walter Knapp, who had the innovative idea to hold an international exhibition of public art to raise money for charity. Since then,… Continue

Displaced Animals - Mikel Uribetxeberria: Madrid, Spain (6 photos)

I like this animal photo set by Mikel Uribetxeberria of Madrid. It's almost seems as though the animals have a strong sense that they are displaced and trying to sort things out in their own minds. I especially like the gorilla who looks extremely comfortable but seems to be deep in thought.…

An Urban Artist I'd Like You to Meet - SpY: Madrid

Some of SpY's pieces are "classics" in my book. Hailing from Madrid, SpY is a famous urban artist that uses many different mediums. His work consists in the playful reappropriation of urban elements, that he replicates or transforms, and then installs in the street. SpY's pieces are meant to shake up the equilibrium of an urban dweller. His work is full of irony and… Continue
