Though it took video cartoonist, Dan Meth, on and off over 7 months to complete this video, it's safe to say that it was all worth it. (Watch the CNN segment about it.) With the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 looming, his video, called Twin Tower Cameos, serves as a stark reminder of just how iconic the World Trade Center buildings were to New York. Featuring over 75 clips, the movie montage… Continue

Viktor Hertz combines two of his greatest hobbies, graphic design and film, into a clever series starring pictograms! Often seen on signs or instruction manuals, pictograms serve as our universal language, a way for all of us to quickly figure out where we're going or what we're (not) allowed to do. To him, this set became Hertz's "form of expression," a way to stretch his creativity and… Continue
After putting together a post, last week, of some magnificent modern day movie posters, one of our very own Met members (Ryan Olds) left us this heartfelt comment: "These movie posters are incredible! The raw expression of each main character gives each film such a specific feeling! Please find… Continue
Over two years ago, Poland-based artist, illustrator and graphic designer Grzegorz Domaradzki (or Gabz) first published his Vector Movie Poster (VMP) project. As he was both "surprised and overwhelmed with the positive feedback," Gabz recently decided to create another set. "My love for movies and good acting hasn't changed,… Continue

His work has been exhibited in museums around the world and he even has a book called Reflex: A Vik Muniz Primer. Muniz is now the subject of a new documentary called Waste Land which follows him as he travels to the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim… Continue
We've all seen our fair share of minimalist movie posters but to add in famous quotes brings them to a whole new and interesting level. Graphic designer Jerod Gibson just recently created this series called 37 Posters. Each poster not only contains a simple silhouette image from a movie or tv show, it's also filled with memorable quotes. Love how he's incorporated… Continue

For those that enjoyed the book Freakonomics, here comes a a documentary film adaptation this fall. The trailer looks action-packed and really interesting. Can't…

As a huge fan of talented illustrators like Noma Bar or Olly Moss, I was happy to come across the work of Viktor Hertz. Not only does he use negative space with his Coffee and Cigarettes illustration, his… Continue
In one of the best movie mashups we've seen, the scary sounds of Inception and the creepy footage of Toy Story 3 get edited together. Leonardo as Ken and Ellen Page as Barbie are brilliant!
Toronto-based designer Ibraheem Youssef just recently released a new set of minimalist movie posters. For those of you who are unfamiliar with his work, he's also the one behind those cool, retro-modern Tarantino movie posters. I particularly love his color choices and his clever and… Continue
When's the last time you watched a movie? Was it in an actual movie theatre or on one of several screens that surround you? This was a cover illustration for The New York Times, about all the different ways consumers now watch movies. It's one of many cool and clever pieces by illustrator and comic artist Mickey Duzyj. Check out…
On Friday, the My Modern Met team headed to ArcLight in Hollywood to see Banksy's new film Exit Through the Gift Shop. Not knowing exactly what to expect from the illusive artist, we came with few expectations and left with quite a few surprises.
Eugene, Annie and I decided to make a few stops before our movie. Since…
As a big fan of David Choe's beautifully messy work, I'm interested in seeing this new documentary about him.

You know we love our movie poster illustrations here on theMET! This set by Nicholas Tassone (or Bee Combs on Flickr) is some of the best we've seen yet. He's recently created ten Stephen King minimal movie posters that will knock your socks off. Love the simplicity and cleverness. Stephen King fans, you're in for a real treat!…
Steven Spielberg. Quentin Tarantino. Martin Scorsese. George Lucas. Modern-day movie directors who's names are somehow stored in our memory. At the very top of their game, these directors have that rare ability to transport us into a different time and place, albeit for just a few hours. They're artists who can see something most of cannot - imaginary worlds we never…
