Music Philosophy (12 quotes)

Music is one of the most influential mediums in our lives. We listen to certain musicians or bands because they write songs that convey how we feel, or they inspire us to live our lives in a certain way.

These music philosophy pieces were created by Mico. "I like music and typography, so I combined them on this project," he says.…

The Look And Style Of Music (9 Pics)

As we slip further and further into the digital age one thing that is being lost is the look of the bands you love. Albums from Pink Floyd to Britney Spears, from Johnny Cash to Slayer all had a style and feel that went along with the music. When I was a kid I would put on a CD and pull out the liner notes and read all the lyrics and check out the 'thanks' list to discover what other bands they were into. Thankfully there are people like…

I thought this was pretty insightful and moving. For five years, young Emmanuel Jal fought as a child soldier in the Sudan. Rescued by an aid worker, he's become an international hip-hop star and an activist for kids in war zones. In words and lyrics, he tells the story of his amazing life.…

Look out for Lisa Hannigan, She really is the next big thing!!!

I was at a gig last Friday and it was one of the highlights of my life, musically. We three (two friends and I), had managed to get our hands on tickets to one of two concerts Lisa Hannigan was playing in Galway's Róisín Dubh. The venue is notoriously small and we were packed in like sardines with 150 to 200 others, all of us anticipating a good show and nothing more. What we got however was a spiritual and emotional experience that will be difficult to top.

Lisa Hannigan, for the… Continue

Music in the Buff - Jonathan Viner

According to artist Jonathan Viner, young Russian women like to listen to music in the buff. Wearing high fidelity headphones, some of the girls seem to be calmed by the music, while others look a little freaked out.

If you find yourself in New York City, you can check out Viner's "Harem" in person, as his exhibit will be running at Sloan Fine Art until July… Continue
