Saks Fifth Avenue 2011 Holiday 3D Projection



Yesterday evening, Saks Fifth Avenue debuted their new light show projection in New York called The Snowflake & Bubble Spectacular. In grand style, Saks pulled out all the stops, even getting students from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre to perform a dance from the Nutcracker on 5th Avenue for onlookers.

I'm always impressed by well-executed projection mapping. "Yekpare" is a storyteller which narrates the 8500 year history of Istanbul. The story embraces symbols from Pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantine Empire to Latin Empire, and finally from Ottoman Empire to Istanbul at the present day.

Cool 3D Projection Mapping by Samsung



Though we've now seen our fair share of projection mapping, it's one trend that I still can't get enough of. Samsung just recently threw up this installation on an old Amsterdam building. For three nights, they gave those who passed by a free show to promote their new range of 3D LED TVs. Love how they really made use of the building and how they neatly tied up the story with their 3D TV in the end.
