At the Juxtapoz exhibit, there were a few paintings that literally stopped me in my tracks. One of them was of this girl. Up close...her mascara running, the expression in her face, the latex glove on her hand were so beautiful, so intriguing.
One of the most exciting artists to emerge during our time is Cai Guo-Qiang. The Chinese artist paints with gunpowder when he's not staging open-air 'explosion events.' At this summer's Beijing Olympics, he will be director of visual and special effects for the opening and closing ceremonies.
It gives me great pleasure to spotlight a new artist in our wonderful and growing community, Marcus Choi.
