In our book, no one creates more clever design (or advertising) like Noma Bar. A new series of ads were just released by the illustrator as he continues his work for IBM's Smarter Planet. The idea? To visually communicate a complex story in a simple way that deserves a second look.
Smarter Planet is a corporate initiative of IBM whereby they seeks to highlight how forward-thinking…

Add a beveled, drop-shadowed layer of complexity to your decor with Menino’s Wall Bar; instantly recognizable by Photoshop fans, it’s a 31.5″ silk-screened MDF board of PS tools.

Noma Bar is an Israeli artist who takes complicated ideas and simplifies them into graphic form. Using only a few lines and colors, Bar makes us look deep into an illustration. First, we find the surface meaning and then Bar prods us to discover the more complicated story. Particularly in his caricatures, Bar assigns symbols to each person,…

For those of you who thought Bar Rafaeli might actually look like the ugly green witch from the Wizard of Oz without the proper lighting and airbrushing, I'm here to prove you wrong. This supermodel is actually more beautiful without all the fuss.…

There's something uber chill about the Silver Lake crowd. It's not like Hollywood, no hiking up your skirt and blowing kisses at the bouncer, no velvet rope that stands between you and a night of raucous fun. Barbarella is the newest bar to join in on the Silver Lake fun, opening tomorrow.
One look at this glamorous joint and you'll want to call all your…

For quite some time now, I've been calling Leo a fool. Who would leave the biggest supermodel in the world to date a lesser known? But then, I saw these pictures of Bar Refaeli, his current model squeeze, and it all made sense. This 23 year old Israeli model was practically born to grace the pages of fashion magazines. If you didn't catch her in French ELLE magazine,…

Was that a gratuitous shot of Angelina with a martini to grab your attention? You betcha! Truth be told I'm not a big drinker but when I see a piece of furniture that make me want to put away my Diet Coke and instead take a swig of Johnny Walker Blue, you know it's good baby!
Buy these two bar sets and you'll be the life of the party. Just remember to invite…

After mulling over the eight Halloween options Eugene put up on the site, Sam and I decided to hit up WeHo with Grace and Vic to check out the crazy costumes. Too bad it took us an hour and forty five minutes to meet up in Los Feliz first because by the time we got to that area we were over it. Bad mood. Tired. Hungry.
So our wonderful friend Vic took us to…

Bodega Bar is one of those places you go to because:
You live on the Westside, you can't stand the traffic and parking nightmare that is all around West Hollywood, you're done with Main Street in Santa Monica (no more getting in bar fights at Circle Bar or getting your clothes dirty at O'Briens...go ahead call me an elitist), and you have an…

I've been to 3rd street in Santa Monica a countless number of times. So, when I walked into Bar Chloe and immediately loved the place, it was surprisingly refreshing. With no sign outside, it's no wonder I've never known about it. Bar Chloe has a beautifully designed interior and is decorated with flocked wallpaper, huge white lacquer mirrors, three small chandeliers, plush couches with animal print designs, and an elegant, antique, marble-topped bar.…

Eugene, Annie, Sam and I went out to the soft launch of
Rush Street last night. Rush Street is a bar/restaurant/lounge in Culver City that's adding to the whole revitalization of that area. It's across the street from Tender Greens and right next to the new Korean restaurant that's coming in called Gyenari.
You can't really judge the overall vibe on opening night…

Rated 4 our of 5 stars on yelp, I was simply expecting a bit more. Located in the heart of Downtown LA, Suede Bar is in the Bonaventure Hotel and just opened on June 22nd of this year. The bar can fit about 100 people max and has comfortable suede couches and chairs. The bright red seating along with the red lighting is a bit overwhelming and a tad cheesy.
The Highlights:
- the DJ was playing good dance music.
- the…

Went to the Cameo Bar at the Viceroy hotel and I fell in love with it again as always. The modern design and classy colors designed by Kelly Wearstler, and plenty of seating in the pool and cabana area makes this a prime location to have drinks with friends. Cameo bar has no cover, however, drinks are pretty pricey at $15 a pop. With plenty of parking available on the street, the Viceroy is my pick for best Hotel Bar on the…
