While putting together this post, I had a hard time with the title. I was going to include the words retro or vintage but then I thought - Are most of these retro or are some of these modern? Here was my conclusion: While som… Continue

Love him or hate him, all Michael Moore really wants to do is expose the truth. Sure, his films can be a little (ok, very) one-sided but that doesn't mean we can't appreciate them for what they are.
The reviews are already starting to pour in on his newest film, Capitalism: A Love Story.Variety says, "By returning to his roots, professional gadfly Michael Moore turn… Continue

Right when I saw this trailer, I had all these flashbacks of laughing out loud, reading a book by the same name. I remember my sister giving me this book almost a decade ago. It's a story about a horny 14 year old and his quest to lose his virginity. Apparently, Michael Cera is bringing the story back to life with this new movie. If you have some time this Summer and you want to remember what 14 feels like again, I suggest you pick up… Continue

The second trailer for Where the Wild Things Are has just been released. We're eagerly anticipating this movie, which comes out October 16th, because we're excited to see how Spike Jonze's has recreated Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book.
Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventures of a young boy named Max who, after being sent to bed for misbehaving, imagines that he sails away to where the wild things are. Max is loved by the wild creatures who make… Continue

Entertainment Weekly say that District 9, opening August 14th, is "the must-see movie of the summer". Based on the trailers I've seen I tend to agree. This is not your usual sci-fi shoot-em-up. There's no big stars and the budget was only $30 Million. What it does seem to have though is an intelligent story - an allegory about apartheid. I know that I'll definitely be lining up to see this one.
The official site for the movie is… Continue

Here's the trailer to Alice in Wonderland. The movie is due for release on March 5, 2010. Apparently Tim Burton was supposed to show this preview tomorrow at San Diego’s Comic-Con but speculation is that it leaked early. Disney forced YouTube to take the video down. Lucky for us, Mashable has pointed us to MSN for the video.
Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter was perfect casting, wasn't it? I… Continue

This was too cute of a trailer not to share. Though the movie comes out July 9, 2010 (yes, almost a year from now), we can enjoy a few chuckles now. Called Despicable Me, the story apparently revolves around a criminal mastermind named Groo who has been stealing world landmarks and now also plans to steal the moon. Isn't it interesting that the trailer plays more like a short film than a typical trailer?
The voice cast includes Steve Carrell, Danny McBride, Jason Segel… Continue
If you ever had any doubt that Tim Burton wasn't a great storyteller, you haven't seen this older, short film called Vincent. With all that technology out there, a movie's story can often get lost, buried in special effects. It's nice to know that a sweet film like this exists, where a kid's imagination is explored and where, in the first few seconds, you can fall in love with a little boy named Vincent.
The film is a humorous look at a suburban boy named Vincent who reads Ed… Continue

The movie gives us a glimpse inside the life of Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and arguably the most powerful person in fashion today. What more can you want from a movie? A great storyline, Martin Scorsese directing, Leo starring and some crazy, freaky supernatural sh**. This is perfection!
“Shutter Island” is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.… Continue
