Baby Rock Stars

Wow, how cute is this campaign? When El Comercio, a daily Ecuadorian newspaper, wanted to tell people about a classical music CD and book that was included with their Sunday edition, they enlisted the help of ad agency La Facultad in Quito, Ecuador. Under the tagline, "The True Fathers of Music," they dressed up babies into the exact outfits Axl Rose, Elvis and Gene Simmons would wear. Who's carrying these mini-me rock stars but the classic composers themselves! A nice reminder… Continue

Music and Spiritual Practice - An Overview of Poligraf (part 3)

Poligraf has been an essential part of my life since its inception at the beginning of February 1998.

The adventure began after the collapse of a band that probably never really existed as it only had a handful of rehearsals, but for which I had already written a lot of material. Left alone at the helm, I connected with a group of experienced musicians via a co-worker friend and after agreeing on a general aim and formula, we raised sail… Continue

Music and Spiritual Practice - An Overview of Poligraf (part 2)

(Buddha the Conqueror by Nicholas Roerich)

Buddhism has been an essential part of my life since the mid-90s.

Music and Spiritual Practice - An Overview of Poligraf (part 1)

Music has been an essential part of my life since the end of the 80s.

The adventure began during the second of my four years of studying electrical engineering at Université Laval in Québec City. Through various friends and contacts I reconnected with progressive rock, a form of music to which I had already been exposed to in my youth thanks to my older brothers and sisters. Hearing the music of bands such as Yes, Rush, Genesis, and King… Continue

The Horrors: "Who Can Say" (Music Video)

I've always been of the opinion that if you name your band "The [something]," you will likely succeed. If you throw in a dreamy male lead singer with moppy rockstar hair, bedroom eyes, a tuxedo, and a voice that always sounds like you're singing from the back of a smoky bar room, you're surely on the road to stardom.

Now only if your drummer can somehow manage to seduce Drew Barrymore .. don't worry, it's not… Continue

Facebook is Getting Bono in Trouble!: Is the Family Man Really Just a Playboy?

I'm not a huge tabloid reader but when I see one of my favorite rock stars in trouble because of Facebook, you know we're gonna talk about it. Last month, Bono and Edge went to St. Tropez to "hang out" with two 19 year old girls. And just as 19 year old girls do...one of them had to post up the pics and sent a public message to her friend, "‘So Bono and Simon… Continue
