These music philosophy pieces were created by Mico. "I like music and typography, so I combined them on this project," he says.…

Modern Architecture: Iceland Pavilion

Designed by Plús Arkitektar, Iceland Pavilion looks like it's going to be one of the stand-out structures at the upcoming 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Arkitektar's concept was to create the image of an ice cube. The exterior is made out of back-lit printed fabric which captures complex ice patterns that are only visible within a glacier.

Urban Street Art: Vertical Gardens are Not the Answer

Street art collective Luzinterruptus is upset about the lack of green space in urban areas and the fact that we are being forced to compensate with vertical gardens. To illustrate his point, the Madrid-based group lit up leaves and branches in 110 transparent food packaging containers on an ugly, neglected city wall.

One of the problems of vertical gardens is the lack of…

Distorted Urban Realism - Justin BUA (6 paintings)

New York native Justin BUA represents what urban art is all about. Raised in New York City's Upper West Side, between Manhattan and Brooklyn, BUA was fascinated by the raw, visceral street life of the city. He commends his immersion in the hip hop culture in its early days as one of the heavy influences in how he views the world.

In his first book, The Beat…

Splash of Lust

Love this painting by Brooklyn-based art student Becki Wilson aka Glitter Being. Through various brush techniques and the use of bright neon colors, Wilson creates this beautiful work of art that can safely be described as "a hot mess."

The Story of Bottled Water

"The Story of Bottled Water, released on March 22, 2010 (World Water Day) employs the Story of Stuff style to tell the story of manufactured demand—how you get Americans to buy more than half a billion bottles of water every week when it already flows from the tap. Over five minutes, the film explores the bottled water industrys attacks on tap water and its use of seductive, environmental-themed advertising to cover up the mountains of plastic waste it produces. The… Continue

World Water Day - The Big Picture

As Annie stated earlier, today is World Water Day. This year's theme is "Clean Water for a Healthy World."

Although we live on a water-covered planet, only 1% of the world's water is available for human use, the rest locked away in oceans, ice, and the atmosphere. Here are 15… Continue

Here are a couple lamps that I would love to have in my bedroom...

Designed by Studio Job, the Wrecking Ball Lamp is cast from solid bronze. A bulldozer forms the base of the lamp, while a "wrecking ball" light-bulb brightens up any room.

The Crane Lamp is a floor-standing structure also cast from bronze. An enforced cord runs…
