Who Killed the Economy? Portfolio.com's interactive NCAA tournament-style "blame game" bracket

I found this to be funny and amusing. Portfolio.com created an interactive NCAA tournament-style "blame game" bracket where you can pick who you think is mostly at fault for our struggling economy. Choose from people like Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernake, Anthony Mozillo, George Bush, and many more.

Paper Sculptures by Jen Stark

Jen Stark: "It started when I was attending Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and decided to study a semester abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France. I could only bring two suitcases with me for five months so I decided to only bring necessities and purchase art supplies when I got there. The Euro was high and when I went into the store to look for supplies I decided to get something inexpensive, but with potential. I saw a stack of construction… Continue

Impossible is Nothing

Starring Muhammed Ali, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Haile Gebrselassie, Ian Thorpe, Tracy Mcgrady, Maurice Greene and Laila Ali.

“Some people listen to themselves rather than listening to what others say. These people don’t come along very often, but when they do, they remind us, that once you set out on a path, even though critics may doubt you, its ok to believe, that there is no can’t, won’t, or impossible. They remind us, that it’s OK to believe,… Continue

Urban HOTspot - Cameo Bar @ the Viceroy Hotel: Santa Monica

Went to the Cameo Bar at the Viceroy hotel and I fell in love with it again as always. The modern design and classy colors designed by Kelly Wearstler, and plenty of seating in the pool and cabana area makes this a prime location to have drinks with friends. Cameo bar has no cover, however, drinks are pretty pricey at $15 a pop. With plenty of parking available on the street, the Viceroy is my pick for best Hotel Bar on the… Continue

THE WEEKEND EXPERIENCE - ART+CULTURE

Eternal Verities by Caia Koopman - Opening reception on 7/5 @ 8pm-11pm

When I first saw Caia Koopman's work, it immediately drew me in. “My philosophy behind this body of work is that there is a strained relationship between nature, humanity and femininity. Nature and femininity have a huge presence in my art. Not only is nature beautiful and strong, but simultaneously fragile as are my female characters. I want to provide a message… Continue

Urban HOTspot - Babe's & Ricky's Inn: Jefferson Park

When I saw that Babe's and Ricky's Inn was rated the #2 nightlife venue in LA on Yelp, I had to see what the commotion was all about. Located in Jefferson Park, it's the oldest blues club in LA and has been around for almost 40 years. Every Monday night is open-mic night, and the band gets continually mixed up as each guitarist, drummer, singer, and harmonica player takes a turn on stage. The cover charge is $8. We got there at 8:30pm, left at… Continue

An Amazing Izakaya - Honda-Ya: Los Angeles, Fountain Valley, Tustin

I'm a big fan of Japanese food and this restaurant is really high on my list.

An izakaya is a type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks.

With over 200 items on their menu, Honda-Ya guarantees variety. Think of it like a Japanese tapas bar. Lots of little dishes to choose from that are relatively inexpensive, but bursting with flavor and a pretty extensive sake and soju list, with Japanese… Continue

My first thought: Wow, these dinosaurs look real!

"Walking With Dinosaurs - the Live Experience" is a 90-minute arena spectacular! Inspired by the popular BBC television series, the live show will be presented August 20-24 at the Honda Center in Orange County, and September 25-28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

With a budget of 20 million dollars, fifteen roaring, snarling "live" dinosaurs, which include the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Utahraptor,… Continue
