Pretty cool graphs from the
Forrester Research group about how social media is changing our lives! What it's showing, particularly from year-to-year, is that involvement is growing! As many people now say, the internet is democratizing the world...now everyone can have a voice!
Why am I excited about this? Because through the power of data, we get to clearly see that companies are really going to have to start taking notice. We, as consumers, have more of a voice now than we've ever had before. How cool is that?
Interesting to note:
+ Inactives -- people untouched by social technologies -- have shriveled from 44% down to 25% of the online population. We're all getting more invested in this stuff!
+ Spectators -- those who read, watch, or consumer social content -- have ballooned from 48% to 69%. That means that you folk who read other people's Yelp reviews and don't comment (i.e. hungry voyeurs)...your set is growing!
+ Nice healthy jump in Joiners (social network participants), Critics (those who react to social content they see), and especially Collectors (those who organize social content).
+ Creators group grew only slightly, from 18% to 21%.
So take a look and if you'd like...let us know who you are! (Just by answering this question in the comments section you become a Critic!)
