A Green Retreat that's Beachy Chic?: Venice Beach Eco Cottages

Have friends coming into town and don't want to put them up at a trendy boutique hotel? Send them over to the chic Venice Beach's Eco Cottages. The 3 solar-powered bungalows are a five minute walk from the beach and boutiques of Abbot Kinney. Each has their own unique personality: there's the sleek candied baroque Le Bébé Cottage in Parisian blue, chrome, black, and candy apple red colors, the cozy lakeside cabin kitschy Aunt Zoe’s Place, and the woodsy and masculine Papa Hemingway cottage.

Best parts? They'll get to enjoy all the wonderful amenities of a standard hotel or B&B; 300 count organic Gaiam linens and Kiss My Face toiletries, EnergyStar washer, dryer and dishwasher, WiFi, 42" HDTV and a home theater system with iPod dock while feeling good about helping the environment! There's an energy efficient outdoor hot tub that uses ozone and UV light to clean the water and each of the one-bedroom retreats was restored from the ground up using earth friendly, organic and repurposed materials.

I just love the vintage pieces they've reused like the bright red birdcage in the Le Bebe room that's reconfigured as a swivel chair.

Doubles from $250.
