Doesn't this installation remind you of artist Dawn Ng's paper planes? Created for ArtsFund's annual party at the Frank Gehry EMP, Matthew Parker Events (MPE) made 1000 paper airplanes from used newsletters. The cool part? The paper came from the offices of Artsfund!
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. The trend is taking over, and Matthew Parker Events sure knows how to do it in style.
MPE is a boutique design studio based in Seattle, Washington. They produce custom event decor, paper art and prop styling. “Using common elements like paper, cardboard and household perishables, he strives to elevate what is possible from a material,” it says on his website. I say mission accomplished!

With the addition of the colorful lighting and the thoughtful positioning of the planes, this installation was very well-executed.
