20 Gorgeous Black and White Photos by Hedi Slimane

There's no doubt in my mind that Hedi Slimane is in a league of his own. He's credited with revolutionizing men's fashion. He's worked as both a designer and creative director at some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, such as Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior, and even designed album covers for artists like Phoenix, Daft Punk and Lady Gaga. He's published several books on photography and has contributed to top fashion magazines including Vogue and Vanity Fair.

All that aside, what sets Slimane apart? His vision. As his friend Karl Lagerfeld says, "Hedi's attitude is right and what he does and designs is about attitude. From his generation, he expresses modernity better than any other menswear designer. But he is much more than a designer. He has an eye for total modernity. Photography and design are part of that. His vision is totally now in the three different, but not so different, areas. And few designers have more than a double vision of what is going on and know how to translate it into designs and images."

Just like the strong vision he carries with his clothes, Slimane brings that same approach to photography. He has a way of creating gorgeous photos by using simple but careful lighting. He makes each photo appear unbelievably crisp, giving us a clear look at incredible style.

EAT. A. SAMMICH! I really don't want to see the fake breasts of emaciated girls in need of a hair-washing who have dull, underfed dying animal expressions on their faces, and fer crissakes, I don't want their icky spines and rib cages and collar bones poking out at me like that! And the lighting's not that interesting - kinda flat, actually. But I guess if he lit them more dramatically, they'd really look like corpses.
