My Modern Metropolis
I am a geek...plain and simple. I realized that the smart thing to do was to go all Mac. I started working up ways to make the money to update my home office with Apple gear and I did it...a bit of store credit and the old office sold. I picked up a 24" iMac w/ wireless BT keyboard and mouse, and a Wireless printer. All I have left to get is Time Capsule & Apple TV and my home network will be fortified, unified and WiFied...

I wanted to scaled down my current setup which was a mess of large monitors, a huge ungreen, power hungry monster of a tower and wires cluttering my foot space like vine. After visiting my cousin in New York I fell in love with his set up. though he wasn't completely wireless I saw that how simple it was to have function in a form factor that is pleasing to the eye, while cutting my power consumption by 3/4's. My current setup operates at around 800-1000 watts which is insanely expensive considering I only really use it for web design, photo editing, general use and porn. I decided enough of my SUV of a computer system its time to clean up my act.

Its also a great space savings considering that there is a baby on the way. I can put this thing pretty much anywhere in the house and it would hardly be noticed. Being all wireless means only the basics are being plugged in for power. 1 plug for the machine, one for the speakers, and 1 for the printer. The Modem, Router, and apple TV will be in the entertainment area to keep clutter around the computer to a minimum...

though it cost half an arm, its worth it. anyone looking to upgrade into something sleek and powerful, yet earth friendly check out a iMac or macbook... Great computers...Go MAC

I am a die hard Mac fan (iPhone, ipods, Macbook Pro) as well. It's interesting to see how Apple has progressed - how the in-store experience, the iPhone and the failure of Vista has led to a movement...

This article came out on AdAge yesterday.

Some good excerpts:
"Apple has been fortunate in some ways, but they've also stuck to their guns," he said. "When things weren't going well, they just said if we keep making it better, they will come. They stuck to their strategy, and the tide turned." - IDC analyst Richard Shim.

Microsoft regroups
And Microsoft itself may be preparing to fight back with its own marketing. The company hired creative wunderkinds Crispin Porter & Bogusky for an unspecified assignment, but analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group believes it is to address the Vista perception problem.

"There's going to be a major marketing fight ... it will be an interesting battle in the second half of the year," he said. "I think there's now a groundswell of thinking that Microsoft has taken steps to fix what was wrong with Vista. If they were just fixing the marketing [with the Crispin project] and didn't fix the product, it wouldn't work."
