A little Chicago in Culver City: Rush Street

Eugene, Annie, Sam and I went out to the soft launch of Rush Street last night. Rush Street is a bar/restaurant/lounge in Culver City that's adding to the whole revitalization of that area. It's across the street from Tender Greens and right next to the new Korean restaurant that's coming in called Gyenari. You can't really judge the overall vibe on opening night bc it's mostly friends and family but I would say this place caters to a slightly older crowd (mid twenties to forties) who dress up a bit more than your average frat boy. They did a good job with decor, I appreciated the large art pieces, the DJ booth area and the stripper pole. Yes, you heard me right, a stripper pole. It was actually kinda funny. It's a pretty large space, two floors with an outside patio on the top floor as well as an open area in the front. Here we go in pictures. First, some art:

Funny and random how people pose when there's a camera around...

I like the bar area...

Going upstairs...another bar, I reallly liked the wallpaper...

DJ booth..

there's that stripper pole (no action last night)...

nice area overlooking downstairs...

hanging out...

and me and Brian, the owner.

Overall: A very cool, chill place to hang out and grab a drink with either your significant other or your friends. They didn't have any food that night (ran out) so we can't report on that. You can tell that Brian invested some money in the place, the light fixtures, art work, couches, and wallpaper created a pretty cool ambiance. It was Chicago mixed with a little bit of Vegas. Who Should Go?: An older crowd, not really a place to scope out people, more of a place to just chill. People who want to continue the night after dinner at nearby Ugo or Akasha. Tips: Parking in the Cardiff lot is free for 2 hours but we waited quite a while getting in and out. Try and find street parking if you're there during a busy night (Fri or Sat). Don't expect wild and rowdy, this place is more chill and relaxing. Rush Street (Yelp) 9546 Washington Blvd Culver City, CA 90232 310.837.9546
