When my friend Albert took me to this restaurant and had an excited look on his face, I knew this place was going to be special. Never in my life have I had a lobster so well seasoned or tasty as this. The lobster was cut into pieces and prepared in a way that made it easy to strip away the succulent meat from the shell. We ordered it Chinese style - the lobster comes stir fried and spiced with garlic, green onions, chili, salt, and pepper. The other dishes were really good too. We ordered the Beef Luc Lac, cubed fillet mignon cooked with a brown butter pepper sauce and some green vegetables. We were in heaven. Between the four of us, it cost $35 each, totaling $140 with tip.
Tang Can Newport Seafood is located deep in Roland Heights in a Chinese plaza. Based on Yelp reviews, you may also want to try the crab, squid, and fish. I wouldn't worry about not ordering enough food - portions are pretty big and between the four of us, three items and rice was perfect, with the lobster being the main dish.
I've never been but there are more Tan Cang Newport Restaurants in San Gabriel and Santa Ana. The yelp reviews for Roland Heights and San Gabriel are good, the Santa Ana one is kind of low - so be advised.
the lobster buzzer - so funny!
