Funny story about how
Katie Ukrop became a part of the Met. Last night, I was flipping through one of my favorite magazines,
Domino, and came across one of the most beautifully designed houses ever, by a gallery owner named Katie Ukrop. I e-mailed Katie this morning, telling her how much I loved her house and asked if she would be a part of the Met. Not long after both her and
Diana, the Assistant Mgr, joined.
I love modern design bc of the simplicity of it. By Berman - Modernism is a trend of thought that affirms the power of human beings to create, improve, and reshape their environment, with the aid of scientific knowledge, technology or
practical experimentation.
When I see modern mixed with fabulous or pretty, I feel like that's when it really comes alive. Modern mixed with fabulous - Kelly Wearstler. Modern mixed with pretty - Gwyneth Paltrow or Katie Ukrop.
This 8 page spread comes out on newsstands tomorrow:

What I love the most, is not only Katie's eye for design, it's the fact that she's a mother of two girls (Emma, 11, and Flora, 5) as well as a gallery owner. She launched
Quirk in Sept of 2005 with her partner Kathy Emerson. Located in Richmond, Virginia, Quirk features exhibitions of innovative work by both established and emerging American and international artists. Part art gallery part shop, Quirk encourages artists to come and discuss their work. Love that!
Here are some pictures of the gallery:

Glad you and Diana could join the Met! Welcome!
