The Rock Star Chef of Sapphire Laguna Makes One Kick-Ass (But Expensive) Kobe Burger

After the Juxtapoz exhibit Kara led us to this great restaurant that had the best burgers in town, Sapphire.

Away from the crowds but with a beautiful open air patio area, Sapphire not only lived up to my expectations it exceeded them.

Service was excellent - our waiter was hilarious...he asked why Sam, Eugene and I were such tall Asians.
Ambiance was stellar - you can't beat patio seating on a beautiful day.

Food was delicious - I actually liked how they were only a few choices.

OCMETRO BUSINESS listed Chef Azmin Ghahreman as one of the “2007 Hottest 25 People in Orange County” and dubbed him ‘rock star chef’. He claims to be a a citizen of the world. Born in Iran, educated in Switzerland, having lived and worked all over the world. Over the last 20 years, this widely-traveled industry star has immersed himself in the cooking styles and cuisines of: classic and nouvelle French; Mediterranean, Hawaiian Pacific Rim, Asian, Middle Eastern, Modern Australian, American Southwest and American Pacific Coast/California.

Overall: Really didn't have any complaints about this place except that it was somewhat pricey. Probably the most expensive burger I have ever had but it was damn good. Kobe burger with carmelized onions and havarti cheese with a side of garlic fries. Does it get any better?

Tips: Park in the back of Sapphire, there's a little parking lot. You'll need to get a coin from the restaurant but that coin is free and can be picked up at the hostess desk. Don't expect a big menu - they change things up here and there but it's always a simple menu. Outside patio seating is great but the inside is equally nice. Check out all the cool light fixtures inside.

Who Should Go? People who want to get away from the craziness in Laguna and relax at a very nice, chill spot. People who appreciate kobe burgers and don't mind spending a little moolah for it.
